Re: good places to eat in Astoria?
The best chowder on the coast bar none. Baked Alaska on the Astoria waterfront.
Also mighty good fish and chips.

The Silver Salmon in downtown has great food for reasonable prices. Try the salmon sandwich. Yummy

Re: good places to eat in Astoria?
The little lavender joint on the way out of town with the walk up window...I think it is called The Custard King.
12 different kinds of burgers! HUGE! Wonderful burgers!
Quite a few ice cream selections and fried veggies and stuff.
YUM!!!
Good little fish & chips joint behind it, it's a boat turned walk up restauraunt. It's named after a boat I think...the Schooner or Clipper ship, something like that. Best fish & chips!
EDIT: Thats right! It's called "The Bowpicker"!!!

Re: good places to eat in Astoria?
Personally I'm a little down on Ship Inn. Just doesn't seem like it is what it used to be.
Lately my Favorite has been Fulio's. Very nice little Italian joint with reasonable prices. Eaten there many times and never dissappointed.
Try it out.

Wow... Nobody has recommended Annie's??? Never been there myself, but I hear it's the only one of it's kind on the north coast.

Re: good places to eat in Astoria?
The Ship Inn was my favorite chowder place when I lived there, but now the Silver Salmon is best for Chowder. My ex owns it and runs it, and he has won the "Chowder Cook Off" in Seaside for many years in a row. Don't know if he still enters, but his chowder is excellent.
Didn't even give me the dang recipe on departure, either. :depressed:

Re: good places to eat in Astoria?
Want to hear something REALLY strange?
When Jeff left our marriage, he left for a girl named Laurie.
Guess what her kids are named?
'Jeff and Jennie'.
Now, that was weird!!! LOL

Ship Inn....at least a few years ago, the Calamari was to die for. Usually on a mission going somewhere, so haven't stopped there for a while...

Hi there Auntie! I'm trying to figure out which one you are. PM me!
Jennifer, Jennie... close enough to be weird for me!
They are sweet kids! They should be very proud!
For saying that, can I have the chowder recipe?!?
PLEASE?
