They just look beat up. Look at the feathers on the side. At first I thought they were stuffers. They have that worn look. Are they in someones' yard? I am use to honks that look like this.

They look kinda like sun faded stuffers, but I have never seen bases like that.. Cool pics wherever they are!

Jon,

what field is that? Westmoreland park...
Those pics are a little close for actually scouting a field. Are those in a park somewhere where there are weeds in the grass?

I just love asking you all these questions..
By the way -- sweet pics, did you get a new camera?
when you get it we should put together a photohunt... I think there is a guy on here who is really into videoing also. How cool would it be to have a non gun hunt and just take the sweetest pics of birds working and landing and then bands and collars from 30 yards..

Evan...I gotta say that you are right . Good instincts.

I took those pics at the reflection pond in Washington D.C. There were over 300 geese there. I searched them all and took pics of the only two bands I found...these two. This was a few years back. I just found the pics and wanted to have some fun.

Sorry to those that responded...I really thought no one would fall for it. The angle of how the pics were taken is just too high. I would have had to been (actually was) right on top of these geese.

Now if I only could have found a way to get those bands without getting thrown in the brig .

(Plus... I gotta work tomorrow )

Guess you probably read the story W&3k .

Good instincts as well....would have been tough to get real close and that high of an angle on those birds .

I did get a new camera...thanks for asking! A panasonic DMC-FZ30. It friggin rocks! It takes video too. I hope you guys don't mind but I'm going to be posting a lot of pics from now on. I'm really getting excited about taking feild photos!

As for the photo hunt, I would love it. After the season ends we need to set it up for sure. With a bunch of us "shooting" we should be able to put the hurt on them!!
