Default Water pump question:

I am looking for a water pump that will run off a car battery.
I am trying to find something that will squirt a blast of water 20 ft or so. I thought about a bilge pump but not sure that there is enough pressure for the distance I need. Does anyone have any ideas?

Windshield washer pump oughta do it. How much water are you looking to squirt?

Well...it seems most bilge pumps off the shelf utilize a 3/4 inch outlet hose and they dont put out much pressure at all. I thought that maybe I could increase the pressure by using a smaller hose but that may just overwork the pump or slow it down. I want to be able to shoot a continuous stream of water for 15-20 ft....enough water to soak someone real good. I am trying to come up with a water cannon for my yearly rafting trip this summer  We got slaughtered last year so I thought maybe I could come up with a secret weapon. I just cant seem to find a pump that will do the trick...I have everything figured out as far as keeping the battery dry and safe, just need to find an adequate pump. Maybe there just isnt anything

Pick up a rv water pump. they come in different volumes of pressure. I use one for dry camping with a battery and generator. Nice to pump water out of barrel and have a faucet.

Why not just a washdown pump for a boat? I think it would have more power than an RV water pump.

Yeah mine will shoot the water a good 20 feet or so. It also has enough power to wash salmon blood and slime off the floor of the boat. If you were in a raft is should be an easy set up. Just run the feeder hose over the side of the raft and into the river, supply power to the pump, and you are in business. I have a garden nozzle on mine and it works great.
