Default Dimensions of a drift boat on a trailer?

Hi Guys,

Hopefully someone can help me determine if a trailered drift boat with a kicker will fit in my garage. I'm buying my first house, it only has a single car garage. If the garage won't work, I can park it outside, but I'd prefer to have it sheltered.

Here are the dimensions:

Length of the garage: 225 inches (18'9")
Width of garage door: 94 inches (7'10")
Height of garage door: 79 inches (6'7")

I did a search here and looked around on a couple drift boat Web sites, but couldn't find out what the maximum dimensions were for each of the following drift boats, on a trailer, with a kicker (probably a Yamaha 8 hp High Thrust, or something along those lines):

16 X 54"
17' x 54"
17' x 60"

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Take care,
Motor

Can you take a run by a local drift boat dealer and actually measure the dimensions? A lot is going to depend on the trailer manufacturer and the way you store the boat in the garage along with the position of the kicker.

1989 16' Alumaweld DB & Trailer with 8HP Honda measures 18'6"

If room in your garage permits you can gain a few extra inches by positioning the boat diagonally.

You could also add a swing away tongue that will save a few more feet.

Jim,

I'm new to this, so I didn't know about swing away tongues, that would definitely help. I found a picture of a swing away tongue, it looks like it would work great.

I appreciate the tip.

Cheers,
Motor
