Hi all, just wondering how Newport is this morning? Does anyone plan on crabbing today?

The forcast as of last night was for high winds and rain. The tides are also big, and real big ! So if you do go be careful with your rings/pots/traps as your rope buoys will get sucked down with all of the water moving in and out. I was going to go Sunday but cancelled because of this,

After the lightning and hail show last night it is pretty calm with some dark clouds and sun. It hasn't rained much since early. It is supposed to get ugly again later in the day.

Right now (1118) the winds are around 15 with a little higher gusts, the water level in the bay and river is pretty high with about a 7'-9' drop in the comming ebb. The Restriciton is set at the Bridge for everything (All Recreational and All Uninspected). Rain on and off for the remainder of the weekend (not much improvement on the WX maps for next week either). Looking at the forecast the wind is predicted to pick up again this afternoon/evening, so hold onto your lunchbox... R.
