Default Tred Barta sinking

OLN had Tred going down from 6 to 7pm . Repeat 9pm. Hit object returning from bluefin trip and had to deploy to life raft. Worth watching if available.

It's misleading. I think if he'd just billed it as safety stuff / or preparing for what you need to know it would have been more honest.

However, I applaud him for letting the military play a big role in the episode and even had me tear up with the lost pilots daughter. I must be getting weepy in my old age.

Terry i have to disagree with you on this, Tred is an embarassment to the sporting community. Watch his hunting episodes, it makes elmer fudd look skilled. Watching him is like watching a c team bench rider brag himself up. Hes arrogant and doesn't have much to back it up.

WRO, I saw Tred the other day kill a Grizzly with a Long Bow.....

Pretty interesting....

Tred is definately full of himself but kinda get a kick out of his intensity and I guess that is why I like it.....

I have heard his critics but I guess I have not watched enough of his stuff to form an advised opinion....

Have to admit, the preview of the boat sinking show looked interesting, and the other fishing shows I have seen him do were pretty entertaining....

Only saw the one hunting show though....

Tred is receving a new Rampage offshore machine on the house, (about 450,000.00) and raised $180,000.00 last year for the boys and girls club. He is now going for one million for the kids www.bartaboysandgirlsclubbillfish.com wish I could do that in Oregon!!!

I caught part of the show tonight...
I think it was just a simulated deal. Like to show you what to do, how much can go wrong at once, etc...
I thought it was pretty cool, though.

I agree, he is pretty intense but I still like his show as for his hunting shows, I still enjoy them. I wouldn't be too critical untill you try to put one of these together. It's a risk of a lot of money, do you want to try?

Tred is not an emmbarassment to the hunting community. He shows what happens and does not gloss over things to make hunting look better. Until you have the trophys he has killed or the fish he has caught it is very arogant of you to say what you did. How many shows have you seen where they showed wounding an animal and it getting away. It was not pretty but it does happen to everyone. It just does. To say it does not is crazy. Tred shows that. He also hasd show where nothing is taken. He has tried to get geese with his bow. He has not yet sucessfully done that but is not afraid to show that. He is lucky to have gotten this attention and is who he is. I to just love the words he has said about "Just showing up". I think that is what he does. He shows up and lets things fall where they will. Then he shows us that. Not what some person thinks will not offend someone. It is "The Best and Worst Of Tred Barta."

Tracker, good points I'm not sure I had considered. It is the best and the worst of Ted, that is honest billing. While I watch every week and talking to this specific episode- I did appreciate the safety aspect of being prepared for an emergency situation - I did appreciate the way our military was presented - I feel that Tred is normally a straight shooting, let the chips fall where the may type of man and in this episode his promo's were misleading. For 2 weeks I was led to believe that his boat sank. Up to the first commercial break when they "hit" something I was truly sucked in and felt angst for his step son and buddy. This made me feel like I'd been played. On the other hand, had Tred promo'd this program as an invaluable safety episode highlighting the Air Force, I'd have been just as eager to watch.

All of his hunting shows are guided and his record wart hog was killed out of a waterhole blind. Not skilled endevors IMHO. It would be like fishing with Grant and Scott and then bragging about how many fish You catch. The doe hunt in question, he flung an arrow, not a skilled or respectful to the animal and just adds more power to swing crowd IMHO. I know he does good things for children and I respect that. My point is that his arrogance doesnt have merit behind it.

I enjoyed seeing what the rescuers did, and felt that was far and away the best part of the show.

Tred's a bit over the top at times, and seems to be a bit full of himself (at least that's what my wife said after watching his show for two minutes), but he doesn't gloss things over. Watching him makes me feel like my skills aren't too bad. After all, if he is as bumbling as he appears, there's hope for all of us.

The safety aspect could have been more detailed, and he could have talked more about the equipment, it's storage and deployment.

I also was sucked in by the promo but if you look back you will see that it was all revealed as to what it was going to be about two weeks ago. (Earlier thread)

There are so few people that have taken the animals he has, most who have were guided, a fact of life in todays world. He is full of himself and that is why he is having a boat given to him and why he has is own show. I myself do not care about the horns of and animal never having found them to taste to well, and so the trophy aspect is not what I am seeing. But guided or not I am impressed with anybody that can stick a "stick" in a grizzly from 10 to 15 yards. Remember it took him 9 years of "Guided" trip to get that grizzly. That sounds more like perserverance than just being full of himselfitiss.

Like I said, I haven't seen many of Tred's shows but the dude is intense and he has passion....

Would I trade occupations with him, errrrrr yes......

As for him and his work with kids, that is awesome so no matter if he is arrogant, brash or full of himself, the dude has some good qualities.....

He must be doing something right to get all these cushy guided trips and a new boat like that.....

Like I said, Tred is a maniac but I guess I like that.... Heck, I love Uncle Ted Nugent as well so that should tell you something

We had all better hope and pray that Tred and Ted don't get together, OLN stock would tripple over night. Seems to be a trend toward real reality shows and when I saw Mr. Barta kill Mr. Grizzley with a pointed stick and a long bow he gained additional stature in my book. You gotta admit, his show is anything but the "same ole bass outa the same old boat outa the same old private lake kinda show that Dance and Martin do. I love him, I hate him, but I watch him...Ted Nugent too

He is a guy that charges forward. His offshore tuna trips, shown over last year, run far second to Tracker. IMHO still mo' better than any other TV choices. I don't get Fishing the West re-runs. Like to see big Bluefin trip. Someday, somewhere Pacific Northwest is going to get 200lb. one.

I caught bits and pieces of the episode last night (was immersed in homework ). I couldn't figure out if his boat was really sinking or if this was a saftey drill for the viewers. But no matter if it was real or staged, he did give some good points if one has never taken an ocean saftey course.

In the last show Tred talked about how his dad dropped him off in Maine and 35 days later/350 miles with a pack on his back he crossed the Canadian border. That would be like walking from Asland,OR to Kelso, WA. That would be a epic cross country hike. Not sure, no, I can say with 100% honesty I have never done that. He is the man.

Well, as far as Tred Barta, its the best and the worst. Some things I like and some I don't, but it beats watching paint dry all winter!!!!

You might say his shows are definitely "kicked up" a notch than other shows. Oh, did I mention that his show is the Number 1 rated show on OLN beating out the PBR!!! So, guess that is not all bad.

Getting both Tred and Ted together would be some show to watch!!

Well if it is the number one show then if only I had a sponsor then my show would be better than his and I could be getting the new big boat given to me. That is according to my new best friend Houciemike!

I thought Tred was a little full of himself the first time I watched him, but it wasnt long and I was hooked. I think he is neat guy, has a lot of passion for what he does, has a good sense of humor and isnt afraid to show when he screws up. Compared to the other hunting show hosts he offers a much more realistic view of what fair chase really is.

All joking aside Tracker, I'd bet you a case of adult beverages of your choice that if you'd send a copy of your fish video to OLN you'd find they have interest. If you do this, just remember your old buddy hooked on fish put you up to it and keep a guest appearance open for me on one of the calm water days.

If you think that Tred is a highly accomplished hunter because he killed a rubbed out 3 year old brown bear with a shotgun on 1 side and a rifle on the other then great...I guess. I can show you 50 hunters from Oregon that have done way more.

His little browny made P&Y book for BC because there have been so few killed, any bow brown fon BC makes it.

I read his book about large Bigeye Tuna on light gear and the man did his homeowrk on that.

I also watched his sea duck hunt where he went on and on about how wild and dangerous it was. I've been in much more peril on the Columbia a dozen times.

He's better than watching some shows. He's got the goods with his tuna. A great hunter...??? I wouldn't say that. Full of himself? Absolutely. I'll keep watching just to see what he does next.

Tracker,
Just send Cabela's a copy of your latest Tuna Video. I read some where, can't find it now, that Cabelas wanted folks to send in their videos to possibly use on their show. It might be a shot in the dark, but could get lucky and they would use it!!

Tracker your videos put the thrill of the chase, catch and gaffing, and the tuna virgins eating hearts, way above the rest. Seasoned tuna hunters hearts beat to your music. Is the rest of the world ready for the ultimate? Let us know, send 'er off.

Well Cabelas wants only unedited video or will want it if they deciede to use your video. Not sure I still have all the video in un-edited form. Anyway the most important critics I am concerned about is my fellow Salty Dogs.

Shoot for the moon Tracker. Perhaps ESPN would want Tuna Hunters. Five port $100,00 prize money. Teams compete for $10,000 each port with finals offering grand prize of new offshore vessel and additional $50,000 in prize money.
I know I am dreaming but who knows. Any tuna chaser with juice at ESPN? Tracker could be color commentator and consultant to filming crews. They may accept edited version of videos. Picasa2 free is good software for photos and videos and does good job or finding all files on your PC.
My biggest worry is infecting nation with tuna fever. Winter and raining, I can dream of $10,000 TUNA CHASE.
