Default outboard jet intake position question

I was hoping someone could help me out with the proper mounting height for an outboard jet. The boat is a 1652 Lowe Jon Boat and the motor is a 50hp Honda (40 pump). My question is should the leading edge of the intake be positioned below, above, or even with the bottom of the boat? The boat is a flat bottom with corregated ribs.

Lowes or Honda should be able to give you more info.

I'd think that it should be mounted even with the botom of the boat. If it is above the botom you will not get clean water to the pump.

Cheers!

Try outboardjets.com for your answer. They cover that in their FAQ section.

Top of the intake even with the bottom of the boat

bottom of leading edge of intake no more than 1/4" below ortop of leading edge no more than 1/8" above bottom.. and you should remove the last 6 feet of the keel rib if so equiped to get a clean flow of water in to the intake..
