What kind of broadhead for turkey's?
If you were planning to shoot a turkey with a bow what kind of broadhead would you use?
Thanks,

I would look hard at Arrowdynamic Solutions Gobbler Guillotine. I watched a promo video from double bull blinds and they shot a gobbler with one of these and it cut it's head clean off.

If you watch that whole video, they do it time after time after time. I saw so many gobbler heads pop off I erased if off Tivo and turned off the TV. It's a great clean ethical kill but not for me. Personally, I use standard broadheads for. I shot Wack 'ems and think they will do just fine. I killed a jake last year with a muzzy and it did the trick. As with everything, it's all about shot placement and practice.

I'll take a great clean quick kill any day of the week and twice on sunday as long as I have two tags. I left ethical part out because I don't want this thread to be hijacked by the ethical police. I just did it didn't I!

I watched the video on there site. Yea, its brutal,
but I would assume any well placed broadhead in the head neck region would produce a kill. The Gobbler Guillotine just allows you to make a kill if your off by 4 inches.

Re: What kind of broadhead for tureky's?
I want to try the Gobbler Guillotines this year. Sorry but I thought it was pretty cool. Image be darned, what could be a cleaner more ethical kill.
As far as what I've used, I used the same ones I shoot deer and elk with. So on Aluminums it was Thunderhead 125's and carbon Muzzy 100 gr.
There is a thing called a "backer" that threads goes on right over the Broadhead threads. It is a metal "star" looking thing that just transfers more shock.
Standard broadheads work fine.
Try to get them facing away and break their back.
Pretty darn fun with a bow!

My buddy was at bowtech the other day asking about them Gobbler Gillotines, and the pro shop guys said they didnt like them, and they are really hard to get to fly right, he said he has seen them cut turkeys feet off due to them flying goofy.

I've only taken two tom's with my bow, and just use the same head that I use for deer and elk. The last bird was taken with a 3-blade 125gr Wensel Woodsman.

I like an expandable with a big cutting surface. I use NAP spitfires. You want to keep the arrow in the bird, so put a grasshopper or a small game stopper behind the broadhead.

Turkey Ron. The last one I shot went about 50 yards into the brush and there was very little blood but I got lucky and found him. That was with a thunderhead 125.
