1974 MGB convertible, purchased in April 1974.

The thing always died on a Friday afternoon. When I'd drop it off or have it towed in, they always gave me a Volvo to drive while they were fixing it. Wish they had the Lemon Law back then. In February 1975 traded it in on a Volvo station wagon....

1964 Jeep PU, over head cam 6, yes they made such a thing. Pile of junk that leaked oil by the quart.

1986 Ford Taurus. Total lemon, had too many things wrong with it to list.

1980 Chev Blazer, great rig after I fixed everything; radiator core 55K, overhaul tranny 60K, new long block 70K, traded it at 130K.

I've been buying Toyotas since 1991, drive a Tundra now.

77 Pontiac Sunbird
Black exterior, black interior with vinyl seats - in Texas. That car would get soooooo hot sitting in the Texas sun it was painful to get into. Designed for a 4 cylinder engine but shoe-horned with a cast iron V6, it would go through upper ball joints about once a year.

72 VW Super
The first car I owned that actually ran, but just barely. Paid $450 for it and got $10 for it when they towed it away. Standing on the brake pedal, only one of the back wheels would actually provide braking (didn't know how to fix that kind of thing back then) but I put a really neato exhaust on it. Blew a seal somewhere and dumped oil. Parked it and it filled with water, then started to mold.

76 Olds Cutlass (bigger than my boat and worse gas mileage)

Hey Baltz526 , I had one of those 60's vintage Metro vans....but this one was an old ice cream truck from California. It had " Spaceman Snowcones" painted on both sides of it with a ballerina twirlling around eating a snocone, and it had a big red bumper sticker that read " I am from Mars" Don't ask me why but I traded a guy a my '67 GTO for the darn thing.

1974 "fire trap" Ford Pinto even though I had the gas tank fixed under recall
1974 Ford Maverick (yes, another sucker)
1986 Dodge Aires station wagon
I learned enough lessons owning and driving American makes...now I only own and drive Toyotas
P.S. my T100 was made in Indiana in 1998

Put me down as another ex Ford Maverick owner. Mine was a 75, 4 door 6 cly. Hated that car but it is still one of the best cars I ever owned. I never put any money into it other than gas, and that wasn't much.
Oh yea, had an 8 track tape player. who can top that?

1968 Datsun Pickup - the thing was possesed. It had daily electrical issues.

1970 Toyota Sprinter - never EVER buy a model that was imported from Japan. Impossible to get parts.

How about a 1960 Toyo Kogyo. Later, they changed their name to Mazda.

Mine was a two cylinder rear engine jobby with a torgue converter. You had to decide what type of driving you were going to do before you started it - city or highway. If you were in highway gear in the city, you couldn't get enough power to get over the crown in the road. Top speed in city was 25 and top speed in highway was 45. Tires were 4.80X10's.

I needed an alternator and actually sent the company a letter and got a garbled reply three months later.

I get a kick out of the Pinto and Vega posts. I never had one but my friends did. I smile whenever I see a Pinto on the road. Fortunately, I don't think there are any Vegas still on the road.

Worst: 1994 Ford Mustang with a V6. Engine blew up at 54000. I promptly installed a rebuilt the engine and traded it in!

Best: 2001 VW Beetle TDI. The car is a hoot to drive, and extremely good on fuel!
