Farther south, Klamath Falls area and Summer Lake, that is where the action has been. Need another cold snap to spruce things up!

Re: Whered all the dang ducks go???
My theory is that with all this rain and standing water everywhere they are spread out all over the place.

Re: Whered all the dang ducks go???
There's a large flock of pintails not far down the road resting on someone's flooded front yard. They are scattered all over the place right now.

Re: Whered all the dang ducks go???
all the ducks i have found lately are in "new water"..... meaning sheet water and flood waters around creeks. Almost all the birds i have shot have been following a creek and been pulled to the spread in the sheet water.

Scott,
After a miserable time, looking at the sky, from my boat/blind today out on the westside of S.I. WMA, I went and looked locally.
You know WHERE I'm talkin 'bout!
I saw more ducks in 5 min. than I did all morning out on S.I. today...
I'll be there in the morning!

tysdad;
I thought the gentleman who posted about hunting in flooded areas near travel routes gave a pretty good hint...it is called hunting for a reason, if you don't enjoy the pursuit, and only want to kill things, then hire a guide !

Re: Whered all the dang ducks go???
P.S my usual spots are pretty much void of ducks too, and I haven't got any sheet water spots lined up, so I'm S.O.L.

The recording from Umatilla on the 15th said "34 hunters shot 7 ducks and 1 goose."

Re: Whered all the dang ducks go???
First of all , I am a beginner relative to time, but there is one thing that has really helped me this year..
Scouting.... you actually have to go out and look around.
If anyone on this board actually gives a location away, then they have not learned their lesson yet...
I have made that mistake and paid for it. The wise hunter keeps his locations to himself, hunts in small groups and with the same people all the time. Otherwise, it will happen that one day, you'll show up to the spot you thought you had lined up and one of your buddies is there with someone else..

Re: Whered all the dang ducks go???
The flippin' Ducks are everywhere!!! That's the problem. Scouting will help, but as soon as you shoot they leave for parts unknown, it's tough out there.
BTW - Mark my words this is what the main fishing board is going to sound like about the first of April, "Where are all the Springers?".
C'mon folks, it's simple, this Duck season is going to fade out slowly, unless you find a honey hole and . If you do, be smart and show us the pictures Jan. 30th!!!
I've been short sheeted TWICE this year, by someone I have hunted with before. I scout, call the owner and he say's "sure, but %&%$$ is hunting it tomorrow . If you find a good spot and tell people about it, you risk losing it, it to bad, but true.
There are quite a few Ducks spread between Gaston and Verboort in western Washington county, but that's exactly what they are, spread......
Good luck all, I hope we get to burn a few more shells!

Re: Whered all the dang ducks go???
Well we have been pretty fortunate this year. It seems to be a teal shoot lately but that is alright with me. Big spreads with confident decoys and little calling will really help bring them in this time of year.
Looking forward to to 7:08 am.
Good luck

Me too...got some mallards all lined up...not a lot, but a few. Also seeing a few woodducks in some areas I rarely see them this time of year . Lots of teal...but I usually pass on them in the morning and then they don't come back in the afternoon. Maybe tomorrow I'll just pound 'em .
Go get 'em
