goose blind
What is the best coffin blind for goose hunting in western Oregon? I am going to buy one and would like to get one that works well. Most hunting will be in grass fields.

Re: goose blind
Not sure if you'd call it a "coffin" blind, but I'm happy with my Final Approach Eliminators.
I also have a "Uni-Pit" coffin blind but have only used it a couple of times.

Re: goose blind
My buddy and I have hunted out of Eliminators. But the Avery Finisher is a great blind.

Re: goose blind
The Avery Finisher is a great blind to hunt from. If you can find one of the original blinds with a steel frame, you should buy it. I don't care for the newer models with an aluminum frame. I think the new design is a little too flimsy.

Re: goose blind
I have one of those chairs that have a big goose shell over it. it seams to work great and it adds to the spread.

Re: goose blind
Two words for you.Final Approach.Have looked at the Avery blinds but I know there isn't much out there that can be more comfy than my eliminator. The prices are coming down so I'd plan on shopping seriously at the Oregon Waterfowl Festival. Should be some great deals there. If you're interested in a Goose Chair Blind I've got one I'd sell.

Re: goose blind
If your a big guy ,and you want room to move in your blind I would go with the best,a Final Approach eliminator blind. But there is a few things you should consider before you buy one. 1. how far do you have to walk to your hunting spot? Two how much cover is there to hide your blind? I have hunted out of both FA eliminator's ,and avery finisher's they are about equal the weight. final approach breaks down to the frame, but does not fold up like the finisher,if you got to walk a ways I would go with the finisher, for mobilty or even go with the brother FA the X'lander which comes with straps like a back pack. Getbit has a x'lander ,and it's a sweet blind because again it's mobile ,and it lays lower to the ground to make the blind more invisible, now if you have a decoy cart I would go with the eliminator or the finisher because it has all the features like a cattalac, plus with the cart you can get it out to were your gonna hunt easier. all together it depends on you, were you mostly hunt ,and what you like. I hope you got some info. also I hope I did not confuse you.
good luck ,and happy hunting.

Re: goose blind
Thank you all for responding. Your comments were very helpful. What I did was to go to Salem with my hunting partner and tried out all the blinds at the Sportsman Wharehouse. I like the Final Approach elliminator best of all because it was solid and gave the most room inside. Unfortunately, it was too long to haul in my Ford Ranger and too long for my hunting partner's Toyota 4-Runner. Taking it appart is not really an option in the field when it is cold, wet and dark. The Avery finisher was a nice blind, but there is not enough room to step in without stepping on where you have to sit. I can imagine what that would be like after getting in and out five or six times with mud all over one's boots. What I bought was the Final Approach X-Lander. It's frame is shorter than the eleminator so it will fit in both vehicles. I think we would also have room for a cart if we want to haul the blinds and all the gear out into the field, or we can use the backpack option. In the end we had to compromise, but considering all the problems, I think we came up with something that will work for us.
