There goes lunch...
I dutifully opened a jar of last summer's tuna to make a couple of sandwiches for lunch.
Of course I had to taste it to make sure it was okay. And then I had to take another bite to make sure the first taste was accurate. Then I got out the onion.
As I chopped and added onion, I had to continue my taste-test to make sure I wasn't getting too much in it. Add, taste, add, repeat.
Then I got out the pickles and mayo.
By the time I had the mix just right, it was all gone.
Now I have to start over.
Maybe the answer is bigger jars.

Re: There goes lunch...
I already had chilli out of the freezer for lunch, but you're making me hungry for tuna sandwiches!
Try pints instead of half-pints. It helps a little with your problem and for those days you have the self-control to not taste as you're preparing, you'll have enough left for sandwiches the next day too. That's if there only two sandwiches made each day!

Re: There goes lunch...
Be warned. This leads to serious shortages.
After donating to friends and realitives and making tuna toasties at every function I am invited to we are down to our last 4 jars. 4 precious jars. And before you ask it is too dang long. Too early to start counting. I think I'll have an apple.
Oh yea, Jim... THANKS A LOT!

Re: There goes lunch...
Jim, I wish I had your problem, I didn't get out for tuna last year and I am down to 2 pints left over from 2004. I just look at them every once in a while and drool. I am afraid to open one jar, because then I would only have one left and that would be too depressing. How many days till tuna fishing starts?

Re: There goes lunch...
Because of this post, I was forced to go to the pantry and open a jar of smoked and canned tuna.
I dispensed with the onion, mayo, or pickle, and just grabbed a fork.
Almost gone......

Re: There goes lunch...
Because of this delicious post I'm making, and getting ready to enjoy, a nice tuna sandwich in tomorrow's lunch box. Of course I have to lick the fork and knife!
PS I can in pint jars so that I get more than one sandwich!

Re: There goes lunch...
I open a 1/2 pint for an appetizer and a pint for the sandwich.

Re: There goes lunch...
You all just reminded me why I bought a 24' boat. My wife was hoping I would forget what it was for. Thanks.

Re: There goes lunch...
Jim I hear ya on this one. Sunday is tuna sandwich day for me. Home from chu :grin:rch, grab a can and mix up a batch. Put the remainder in the frig, eat sandwich and then retrieve the bowl from frig and consume. Just never have any left over. Oh BTW I still have about 60 cans left.

Re: There goes lunch...
Well it wasn't tuna fish sandwich but the wife made some
Tuna kebobs last night that were fantastic. Big chunks of
tuna with green peppers, mushrooms and zucchini squash. I
have about seventy pounds in the freezer I need to can.
