Default Speakin\' of Smallmouth------

I have picked up Smallmouth while fishing for Steelhead on the Snake. It stands to reason that they would be in the lower river as well. The rocky areas around Wind River looked real bassy to me last year.

Anyone with stories or words of advice? It might be fun on a slow day.

I have caught a lot of Smallmouth downstream of Bonneville dam. I have done well near piling farms that are near feeding flats. You'll pardon me if I don't get more specific than that.

Smallish jigs have been the ticket. I have done best in the summer, haven't found them in the winter, but haven't looked, either. I found them when I was looking for crappie.

There are some big smallies under the Drano Lake Bridge and the sloughs of Stevenson. Last year a fella took an 8.5 pounder in the slough.

If you will pardon the phrase, "I've had them nipping on my slinkie!"
