Re: New World Record Moose (Pic)
Even though it may be a "modified" picture, it's still a really nice moose. I'm glad it's not being served on my table though, the small 36" moose I shot was bad enough. Nothing like a bowl of "swamp donkey" stew  .

Re: New World Record Moose (Pic)
I believe that world records have been killed, eaten and forgotten about many times over in that part of the world but I also believe this photo has been doctored. It's a little distorted for even a beginner's photo.

Those backstaps would look something like this.

Re: New World Record Moose (Pic)
Did you guys know that moose antlers are the fasting growing tissue in the animal world?
Just think a massive moose like that has to grow, what 100lbs (or more?) of antlers every year!

Re: New World Record Moose (Pic)
Does anyone know anything about the hunt itself, the hunter, and how many inches? WOW, I'm impressed!

Re: New World Record Moose (Pic)
I'm gonna jump in early on this one and say "Photoshop".
They have huge moose on Kamchatka and the North coastal area. I talked to an outfitter at the sportsmans show two years ago and there were some ******* huge moose there.
I also found out that a hunting guide from Wyoming booked with them over there and killed a pending record. Apparently the Russians wanted a "special trophy fee" and the guy from Wyoming told them to eat the horns and left it behind. It was one of the pics on the brochure.
We'll see. It's way big, good angle, looks modified, check out the mane.

It's big but I think GRB is right, the head is bigger than the guy.

Re: New World Record Moose (Pic)
I don't believe the photos are doctored. Cameras (with the right lens) see depth perception differently than we do with the naked eye. Example, close one eye, hold your thumb up in front of you and look at the moose again. I don't have a large thumb, but it's as big as the hunter. Well, or so it appears.
Unless you've seen moose in real life and up close, it's hard to fathom their enormous size. Add depth perception and you've got these photos (IMHO).
Or, I could be wrong... It's happened before.

Re: New World Record Moose (Pic)
It's possible that they are "enhanced". Don't know, don’t really care. The guy that sent me the photos is a serious hunter and currently holds 2 big game world records and he thought it might be legit.
Nice interesting pictures anywise...insert whiney face.

Re: New World Record Moose (Pic)
Hey SS,
I'm not crashin on you and I appreciate the post. I get on here to ook at pictures (much like my literature )
Thanks for the post, It just looks doctored. Even the parts that don't look doctored (the other side palm) are massive.
You'd have to admit, there have been a ton of hoaxes on the net.
RC, backstrp fever baby!

Re: New World Record Moose (Pic)
SS,
That bull was 56". It had huge paddles tho' and scored 210 B&C. That was my buddy's bull. I shot a 55" bull about 5 hours later. We were busy boys.

Re: New World Record Moose (Pic)
GRB,
No worries, I didn't think you were crashin on me. I agree with you about all the hoaxes, lot of photo-editing talent out there. You never know. From the looks of the antlers/palms, this moose is impressive and so is the hunters ability to make it look even bigger and almost unreal on film.

Here's a picture of a nice bull my buddy Arlen shot a couple years ago. I think this one was 60 something, don't remember.
