I'd be inclined to believe this poor fellow probably expired pretty quickly. Falling in a slot like that, every time he'd exhale, he'd slip a further in preventing his next breath from being as big as the last, similar to being wrenched by a big snake.

Horribly unfortunate, but kind of a cool picture too. Nature is a lot meaner than we horrible hunters could ever hope to be.

Yeah, life can sometimes be "cruel" and seemingly "unjust". One can only hope that this poor creature did not suffer long.

The thought of this being a predator kill never crossed my mind when I saw this but that certainly could be a possibility. Wouldn't that be a bummer, if you were the hungry cat who just lost a hard fought meal like that!
