I try to apply with at least a couple weeks to go. I have to admit, I have waited until the last minute more than once, and regretted it for hours as I stood in line, sometimes with the system going down. I told myself, never again. Been doin' pretty good since then, applying early, but not getting tags :depressed:

I have 9 antelope points, 3 elk points, 5 antlerless deer points, and 1 addt'l deer point. Will also be applying for a buck tag. I have the SportsPac with the bear, cougar, turkey, etc. Lots of choices, now I just need some luck.

I usually pore over the Percentage Tags book and agonize over where to apply to better my odds on both getting drawn and getting a good area. The reports we got from last season's hunters make me doubly worried, especially coming off a couple of drought years with lots of cat sightings. Now we have the tough, tough winter to factor in.

But in answer to the original question, I'm usually a pretty early applicant. I hate standing in line.

I, too, buy the SportsPac, and this year I may try to fill all my tags. Haven't done that before, but haven't made a concentrated effort either.

I already have my sheep app in but I am still working on the deer, elk and lope apps. I have to get the stats from all in the hunting party on the preference points before I can do the app. I would not wait until the last minute.

I've already pretty-much figured-out what hunts I think we should put in for . . . . now, I just have to wait for my hunting partners to get the urge to do the same studying that I've already done, "kick it around" and decide. I try to push them a little because I ........... well, I spent nearly 11 years in the Army ........... 'don't stand in line too well any more, 'ya know. I also but the Sports Pak. Don

I'll put in in the next month or so. Didn't get my spring bear, so I'll party hunt for cow elk, and put in for a doe tag. Plan on hunting the coast for bucks this year. Good Luck to you all!

This will be my first year applying for tags in the PNW. I've been studying the synopsis for the last 2 months now, analyzing each hunt and tags vs. applicants! Just about the time I think i've got them figured out, I start thinking again
