post challenge sturgie make-up test.
Took some of the crew out and found a thick school of fish to anchor over. It was non-stop
FISH ON!, with double and numerous triples. All morning and into the afternoon. No keepers, but one of the best shaker days in recent memory. Great to fish with redbull and Kodiakfisher. The guys put the screws to the gators.
Had fishitis pull up next to us and anchor and say hi. Very considerate of him to ask first.
It's all good, join the party! Good to meet you guys.
Fished about 50' in the lower willie near the mouth with smelt soaked in crawfish smelly jelly
and 6oz. of lead on light rods. light bites and half smelt worked often.
The day more than made up for the saturday torture test.
Good fishin,
GBS

I thought you might have just marinated the bait in wine.

Re: post challenge sturgie make-up test.
Brad,
Thank you for a great day!
I have enjoyed becoming friends through Ifish and talking about our kids, fishing and both having wives that ROCK! Life is good - even when you friends lie to you
Great time meet a new Ifish friend in Kodiakfisher (Doug) and Mike.
My arm hurts already. I have never boated so many fish. Good times!
To many more good days on the water. Happy birthday buddy!
15 years from I will be watching Wyatt very closely around Piper!
PS
Would you schnack on.....?
After me?

yep, Joby, Ifish has been berry berry good to me.
I've met some good fishing dudes through all this, and it was a stellar day on the river. Always a pleasure swamping banter with ya.
Yes, Wyatt is gonna be all over that Piper of yours, glad I am the one with the boy.
he,he!
until next time.

Re: post challenge sturgie make-up test.
GBS,
Thanks for the ride, Red Bull it was great meeting you. How did you like that boat you were going to go look at? The thunderjet right?
I couldn't believe how many triples we had and too many doubles to count.
Hey greenbuttskunk just an idea the scent works better if applied directly to the bait rather than being applied to the river directly. It looked good on paper but the practical application was lacking.
I was really impressed with these guys we released one sturgeon that was having a tough time. The anchor rope was thrown and we were off to make sure Mr. Sturgeon was revived for good. after a few seconds he swam away just fine. It's always a pleasure to fish with folks that appreciate the resource and do the right thing.

Re: post challenge sturgie make-up test.
GBS,
Thanks for letting us be your neighbor. That i-fish sticker has helped me quite a few times. And happy birthday
The fishing stayed real good all the way up to the end. We had one that went 42", but it had a nasty time with a sea lion, deep punctures and scrapes along its middle. It wasn't healing up too well, so didn't want to keep it. We caught several others in the 40-41" range. We used herring & smelt, several different scents, all worked. That sure was a nice spot you had, thanks for sharing.
We're in that area quite a bit and in Astoria later in the year. Maybe we can coordinate a trip sometime. Sturgeon, springers, fall chinook, whatever.

Re: post challenge sturgie make-up test.
absolutely fishitis,
I too love to fish the estuary. now that's the place to be keeping the fish, they eat much better there IMHO. Let's do coordinate a trip out there. Glad you got into a bunch, that spot was packed. You should have been there all day. When I saw you guys go by with the long faces, I figured I'd share the spot, the more the merrier. We never did get a 42" or better, so way to go!
Tight lines!

Re: post challenge sturgie make-up test.
you have to take care of those diamondsides. Every fish IS the future of the fishery.
Good to fish with you too Kodiak. No sweat for bailing out so fast at the dock. Hope your wife is feeling better. I'll get you out there again sometime soon, maybe for some chrome daddy action.
See ya at the fly night hopefully.
Cheers,
GBS
