Default Gilbert River launch - Sauvie Island

So is the water too high to get to the actual lauch at the Gilbert River? Or are people lauching in Mcnary and just running through the lakes?

Hoping not to drown the truck just to launch...thanks for any info

Good point! I think it's flooded across the road right at the McNary launch. I was last there when the river was at ~9ft Stage and there was a puddle part way across the road then. Add 6ft and no I don't think you can reach the launch. And there isn't very much room for a bunch of boats to be wrestling around each other to launch and park. Would be a real mess, especially with the BIG boats.

What to do?? Launch westside and run across Mud Lake and Holman point would be my suggestion. Should be able to get there ok and lots of parking room as well.
Gravel launch so 4x4.

I just talked to a friend who was out there hunting today. First it's slow. Actually he used another "S" word to describe the hunting.
Second, you can't get to the Gilbert ramp and the water is still rising as of 1:30 today.
This post IS NOT a ploy to drive people off. My spot in Gaston finally has a bunch of birds!!!

Just an FYI!!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!! Wear that PFD while on the water!

I don't know what it looks like right now but I made it through in my pickup on Jan 2 when the water was up. So it may be doable.

BE CAREFUL!!! There was a car floating in the grass, about half way to the other side, Sunday about 4. The car eventually sank to just slightly less than the top of the trunk.
BTW the guy who sank his car watched my buddy take his boat out, ON THE ROAD, then made a run for it

It looks like we MAY be able to put in there this weekend, but it's gunna be close.
