Default Waterfowl hunting in the Central Oregon area

My buddy may go to College in the Central oregon area. He was wondering how much waterfowl hunting is in the areas of....

Sisters, Redmond, Bend, Crook County.... How is it there? Any waterfowl hunting? Any upland game hunting? Thanks

Geese are pretty good, generally speaking.

Ducks are mediocre. If ducks are your game, head to Summer lake.

The century drive lakes are ok on opening day. Lots of Widgeon and spoonies. A mix of divers later in the season( snowmobile to get in much past Thanksgiving).

I would stick to the fields for geese. If a duck trip was necessary, make it a weekend deal and drive to good hunting.

Mark and the dog.

Duck hunting can actually be pretty good at times, but it seems like it's more a jump shooting deal. When the area freezes up real hard, the Deschutes can be incredible, but again, it's jump shooting. Also, like Mark said, the high lakes can be OK, but we just don't get the numbers like the valley gets and they can be very scattered.

the guys above are correct,it can be good at times, also if your buddy has more than a day to spend he can head south to klamath falls and stand a much better chance at killing birds, early season ducks and late geese,i'd be happy to show you some spots..........fishinpoor
