Default Retriever picnic event

The Salem Retriever Trial Club is holding it's first picnic test this year Sunday March 7th at 8:30 AM. There are several events for retrievers of different abilities from pups to AKC Master Retrievers. This is especially nice for the newer handler and/or younger dog to get introduced to birds (ducks this time), shooting, and how to get started. You meet people who work with retrievers year round and they will help you. Cost is about $5-$15. (ask for MaryJo)
It is held at St Louis Ponds, SW of Woodburn, Or. I can e-mail maps.

HEY!!!!!!!! All you guys asking dog questions should be doing everything you can to get to this. These are the guys that will set you and your rover on the right track. Most hunt test retriever folks are the salt of the earth and will be more than happy to help you out. And you'll see some of those master dogs do stuff that you didn't think a dog could do. Too bad I'm 11 hours away.

Retriever Picnic  ...that sounds like a recipe for disaster...after all, food and labs go together like chocolate and peanut butter.

Seriously, though this is a great event and for the money it can't be beat. My pup ran in two hunt test hosted by SRTC (Saleme Retriever Trial Club) and attended one of the picnics as well. Its a hoot and an excellent training opportunity.
