Live update from Bud in Cabo...
Bud and crew are 15 miles off the coast. They spent the morning trolling with Archer Spreader Bars and Old Salty Divers rigged with Cedar Plug chains. 6 YFT’s in the box, biggest at 50lbs.
They are now hanging around a Whale carcass with 10 other boats. Huge schools of Dorado all over the place. They are casting bait and have had 2 hook ups with one in the box.
He wants to say hi to all of the Salty Dawgs.
More to come...

Because you were down there with him. I've heard you can shut down the whole west coast.
That report is killing me! Once, just once, I'd like to get into some of that. 'Course "just once" turns into an addiction, doesn't it? Bummer.

Re: Live update from Bud in Cabo...
Bud,
If the marlin are still at finger banks, you need to make the trip. Talk to Minerva or one of the other charter outfits and make sure they are there in the numbers they were before you head out. It was 3.5 hours in my boat to get there, but it was awesome to see. 2 to 3 sq. miles of marlin feeding all day long. Something you may never get the chance to see again.
Good luck, you are not missing anything here except rain, rain and more rain.

Re: Live update from Bud in Cabo...
Well, Day One is over. They ended up with a few more Dorado, all 20lbs+. And released another 7 Tuna.
As I type this the whole crew is out on the town. Its a safe bet that tomorrow morning may be tough for a few of them...
I may post results from tomorrow unless I get [petunias!] and not take any more of his calls. Bud is a good guy and a great friend but there was something about the phone calls today. I guess limping around an office with a broken ankle watching the Willy raise while your boy calls from Mexico with beer in hand and dead fish on the floor. DAMNIT!

Re: Live update from Bud in Cabo...
So how did the whale die? Sounds fishy to me, alot of fishermen are benifiting from the carcus. Thanks for the report.

Re: Live update from Bud in Cabo...
Awesome deal Bud.
Knew after spending time in your garage working on those Archer rigs and staying in touch with Fred yourself, you were anxious to put them rigs to the test.
Im gonna have to head back down to the land of El Arco soon..
