Default Handgun Hunters, Please.

Greetings: After 35 years as a rifle hunter, I am very interested in handgun hunting for deer and elk, especially short range shots with revolvers.

I have been doing my research and reading about handguns (thinking either 44 mag or 454 casull) and tactics.

I would really like to find a Veteran Handgun Hunter willing to give me some tips and chat on the phone or online.

If interested, drop me an email with contact information. I will try to find a way to return the favor (ie. drift boat fishing trip).

Thanks and good hunting. Drifter.

SPAZZ - I agree. I went to Sportsmens today and looked at 44mags in the following models
Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter
S&W 629 Hunter
Taurus Raging Bull

The salesman preferred the Ruger. I agree. I like the single action and its 1/2 the price of the other two.

One question I now have is - the best optics. I want a weapon I can shoot quickly at relatively short distance (less than 70 yards), so what is best, scope, open sights, red dot, Bushnell Holo? I am leaning toward the latter two. Unfortunately for the Ruger, that will require a modified mount.

Thanks, Drifter.
