Default Reloading powder question

For years I have used a now discontinued powder for reloading my .338. I have obtained outstanding results using Norma MRP and 250 grain Speer Grand Slam bullets. I can no longer get the MRP and am running out of my stock. It's a slow burning powder. Does anyone know of another powder that would approximate Norma MRP?

My first choice would be H4831-SC or maybe Reloader 22. The Hodgdon is available anywhere and has a very similar burn rate. I've got a table around here somewhere that lists the powders by burn rate, so I could find two or three that would probably be close.

Hodgdon publishes a relative burn rate chart.

Norma MRP is similar to the 4831's and 4350's. I have had good success with these, as well as RL19 and RL22.

I've had good luck with IMR 4350. I have several pounds of it if you want to give it a try. I think I have some AA 4350 too but I'd have to check. Let me know.

RL-22 is very close to MRP in burning rate. Very close. Cheaper too.

H-4831 shows very well in most 338s that I have played with. Especially so with 250 grain bullets.

Either one will drive slugs plenty fast.

You might check to see if Vitavory has a powder that might be aplicable. I haven't loaded anything since my son was born but used to use it a lot. Sorry to say I haven't even touched the press in almost 7 years. I used to buy all my powder direct from a wholesale outfit back in South Dakota. If I remember right they had a 50lb minimum but you could mix and match. I used to get several friends together and do a big order once a year. Not posotive on this but I remember saving around 40% off of retail. Might be worth searching the web for it??? They were real hepful in choosing new and different powders cause I was always expermenting.
