Re: Son needs help
Great looking blind it looks nice and portable. Add some fast grass or whoop grass and your in business. If I had the money I would buy one and I could see them going for $100 easily in cabelas or bass pro. Good job Now all you have to do is wait till next fall for the "Test Phase" of the project.

Re: Son needs help
Time is money and with this being the first one it was probably pretty labor intensive. Add materials and I'm sure he'd be taking a loss even if he sold it for $200. After he built a few i'm sure he could get $125 and still come out ahead.
Not trying to be rude or anything but if it's his project why isn't he making the post.
To answer your questions. If my hunting style changed I'd probably purchase one, $125

Re: Son needs help
Scott did a good job on it Paul! I had seen it in the "forming" stage  but I hadn't seen the finished product yet! I'd definitely buy one. $99-$125 range. HOWEVER, seeing as i'm one of your dearest and closest friends...I think Scott should make me one for free You think I could talk him into it?

Re: Son needs help
Hey that looks great! I would definetly buy one- If I saw it in the store, probably $125. Knowing that it was built by hand, and materials were probably bought at retail prices instead of cost, I'd probably pay twice that for relative value. Good Work! TOC.

Re: Son needs help
Looks very versitle and I also like the fact that you can break it all down to a duffle bag size. If I were in the market for a blind like this I would agree with most that I would expect to pay around $100 to $150 for it.
Nice job, hope you get a good grade............

Re: Son needs help
I hunt ducks, and I have a portable blind setup but it's not that elaborate.
Without seeing it break down and set up in person it's hard to say if I'd buy it or not (I'm kinda nit-picky about my duck gear). If it was fast and easy to set up in the dark and in a heavy wind, and if it proves to be durable, I'd pay between $100-$150.
If it was aluminum tubing instead of ABS (I'm assuming it's ABS from the pic) I'd pay more. Same goes for the camo material. I'd only buy non-absorbent rot-proof stuff.
He did a nice job. I'd be proud of that!

I would definitely buy, and I think at $1,000 I'd be gettin a bargain  Does he get an 'A' on the project now?

Re: Son needs help
I agree with 1pump, I hunt a lot of ducks by myself. If it was easy to put up and take down, and not to heavey I would consider it. It does look very sturdy though. $150.00

I would buy if I had more time to duck hunt. I think the money is around $100-$150.

Re: Son needs help
The only thing I could see as being a problem with this set up is the height of the front wall. All of our permanent blinds are 4 ft tall in the front. Even that can be a problem for young shooters. I my self wasn't tall enough to see over the 4ft wall when I was young so my dad made me a shooting stool to stand on. Be sure to make the stool nice and wide though a 60 pound 10 year old can fly a long ways with the recoil from a 12 ga. Re: Son needs help
i can believe the fishing board is getting more responces than the hunting board come on you guys he still doesn't have half the replys he needs.
yes we have already talked about lowering the front a little bit.
We are also toying with the idea of making another skin that is rain and wind proof so it can be used as a fishing shack too.

Re: Son needs help
Nice.
Why just a duck blind? Why not turkey, deer, antelope, elk, p dogs etc..?
So how much in materials does Scott have invested in his project?
I would have loved to have had one 20 years ago..
Why not have Scott tell us more about his class project?
Oh, $100-$175..

Re: Son needs help
Looks great! How much does it weigh? How do you get in and out of it? Could it be something that a wheelchair-bound hunter could use too? That would open up another market. If I was looking for a blind, this would be one I would consider.
I agree with targeting more than just the duck crowd. Price.... either 4 or 5 easy payments of $29.95 (120-150)
Great job. let us know how the project progresses.

Son needs help
Ok my son needs some help here,he had to make something for a school project and this blind is what he decided to make.It is 5'8"H X 4'D X 6"W .Now he has to get 100 people to respond to some questions. #1 Would you buy this? #2 How much would you be willing to pay for it.?
As you can see in this pic it all breaks down and fits in a duffle bag for easy carring to and from the field.

Re: Son needs help
It looks good. $100-$150 Considerations for me would be weight, height of the front of the blind and the tubes might belong for putting on a decoy cart. And does it have a cupholder?

Re: Son needs help
nice job,if i were in the market for such a blind i would buy it i would think $99-$129 would be a fair price for it,of course not knowing his actual cost makes it harder to judge.

Re: Son needs help
looks like he put in some time on this project.
If I was looking to buy I would guess $100-$150
With everything fitting into the duffle that conveience would add more to the price.
Excellent school project

I'd go $100 for that. Looks nice! One question, though - does it come with a cup holder? If yes, I'd go $150.

I've built a couple blinds over the years. I'd pay $100-$150 for a good portable.

Re: Son needs help
All things considered it looks excellent.
As is I would say the $150 range is probably a good guess for market potential.
A couple thoughts though if he looks to redesign or improve it.
1. It might be a little tall to see over when sitting down. Also, being tall can be a bit tough to hide in low cover. He could probably knock a foot off the height and still have a 6'6" guy sit comfortably under the top.
2. Is the top hinged? If not, this would be a needed and useful improvement.
3. Consider adding 'shell pouches' to the inside and a velcro doggy door.
4. Design some anchors (tent stakes) for it as it looks light (which is good).
Looks good!

If I had a need for one, it would probably be worth $150 or so. Would also be nice if he made a multi purpose blind with a shooting window lower in it.

If it was modified to use as a big game blind I would buy one. I would think $125.00 minimum for materiels involved and labor.

Great job Scott!! Just don't let my kids get ahold of it, oops, too late for that. You should give it a try on Sand Island here soon. I'd pay 149.99+ for it.
