Hot Lips .22 loader ?
Wondering is the Hot Lips .22 loader is a good investment?
I've looked at them for a long time but just not sure if they work. Anyone use one?
Can they be used on the factory clips or are they just for Hot Lips only?
PD

Re: Hot Lips .22 loader ?
I have one
They are kinda a trick to use on the factory mags but the BC and other after market type mags they work real nice on. I would not waste my money on them if your just loading the 10rd mags but if you loading a few 25+rd mags its real nice to have!

Re: Hot Lips .22 loader ?
I have one, along with 50- 25 shot Butler creek clips. They rock. Went through 5000 rounds, shooting Rats in the desert in 2 days, by myself. My dad was shooting also, and he had a loader too. He did close to 2500+ and never ran out of rats to shoot at. The first Hot lips I had, I probably put close to 30,000 rounds through it before the plastic rounded off and it wouldn't feed them in. I am on my 3rd one nowand close to 80,000 rounds through all of them and the same 10/22
Took me about 1 hour to load them all, but gave the rats time to re-group!Best thing is---they don't shoot back! Hope this helped.

Re: Hot Lips .22 loader ?
I love mine, and won't go without it. Yes, it will load the factory magazines as well as 25 rounders. When I'm really into the rats I will shoot up way too much ammo with the 25 rounders, and have to use the factory mags just to slow myself down. Even with those the HotLips really speeds up reloading.
Actually, the 25 round magazines work great, but encourage me to be a sloppy shot. I find I will shoot four or five times sometimes simply because I know I can. It's better for me to slow down and actually aim.
Edit: Hey Water Ready, you and I posted at the same time. Don't think I'm sayin' you're just spraying lead with those bigger magazines. I was only pointing as myself.

Re: Hot Lips .22 loader ?
No Worries! Scientific name for spraying is "progressive/aggressive repeating", or "hurry up and shoot before they all get in the hole"!
My dad and I would have contests to see how many in a row we could get. I went 134 without a miss. 25 shot clips just helped me get to that number faster, cause I wasn't re-loading with my Hot-lips all the time. Happy huntn'

Re: Hot Lips .22 loader ?
After you get the first 500 rounds out of your system, try lining them up and shooting doubles. I shoot with an old timer that has a lazy susan mounted on a surveyers tripod. He sits in his chair and just watches till they are just right. It has built in rests and places to hold ammo and a can of soda. He shoots some old custom bolt action 22. He won't even take a shot until he has 2 or more lined up. You might not believe this but I have watched him torch off 5 with one shot. Oh ya, he also buys the high dollar target type ammo. This old timer has done major testing and knows what he is doing (must be tough to be retired). His second choice is the cci stingers. Most volocity for multiple kills, but pretty eradic trying to group them. He has even played around with making his own hollow points with a jig and drill press. Timely but pretty explosive for just a 22. So while I blaze away, he waits for his multiple kill shots. Come the end of the day we are usually about eaqual in kills, but he has only shot about 200 times to my 800 or more. I actually bought a little clicker counter to keep track. Then at the end of a day you divide your empty boxes by number of kills. My personal percentage in low in the morning (way to excited), the best in mid day, then falls off in the afternoon (fatigue sets in). If the weather works out I plan to do about 3-5 days come the end of next week. Can hardly wait!!!

Re: Hot Lips .22 loader ?
Use mine all the time, but them Im a little biased, as I helped develop them when I was a Tool and Die maker for Butler Creek before they sold out. I have a bunch of clips so it really saves my thumb !

Re: Hot Lips .22 loader ?
HEY!,
Where are you guys getting the 25-50 rounders? My old (pre-ban) Butler Creeks are completely worn out. There is no better medicine for jack rabbits than two 25 rounders taped together for the quick switch 50 mag. I've tried the 50 rounders but the springs wear out fast and you only end up being able to cycle 35 to 40 rounds. I want to know how to get some of the metal lip 25 rounders! Re: Hot Lips .22 loader ?
Bloodletter---- Still a few at the gun shows, but I just saw that they were selling 25 shot Butler Creek in the new Cabelas spring book. Spendy, but I still havn't got an answer if they are building new. Hope the laws changed and they are, so price will come down. Happy Rat'tn and jacks. ><><><><>
