Default Bagged my first elk!!

Got my first ever elk out of North Scappoose Unit, over by the Nehalem. Many many miles of walking, walked off 15 lbs of gut walking the timber Co and BLM land. Also scouted by mountain bike. Long haul out, had the wife and kids drag my wheelbarrow like a dog sled through the forest while we got poured on. After sighting animals maybe 100 times total was finally about to track them down and get a good shot. The long track gave me a chance for the adrenalin to settle down. Took the carcass to a meat processor for packaging. Thanks ifish hunters for all the great advice!

Nice going!

15 pounds of gut gone..nice! Elk hunting is the most physically demanding sport going. Until someone does it you cant really describe it. Great way to lose weight, but you definitely dont want to be carrying too many extra pounds when the season rolls around

pics pics pics, we want pics!

Good for you Fella! Walking that gut off is always a welcome perk. Sometimes it pays to get your elk after hunting awhile
