Default Best Battery?????

How about a little advice. I just picked up the Arima and the battery needs to be replaced. I would like to put two battery's in with the Perko switch. (Anyone have a spare Perko switch laying around?)

What is the BEST battery(s) money can buy?

I have heard great things about-Opima batteries. They are available at big box stores and Cabelas- Many better boat builders are using them now
Also heard good things about Bluesea battery switches- if you go new. I have perkos on both my whalers but the bluseas look like the better ones now. Mark

Whaler Man has it right in my opinion run one deepcycle-starting battery ans one just a deepcycle battery. Make sure one is a starting type battery as they drive more quick power for runny starters for getting your boat started.

I have a switch that is automatic. When there is charging voltage it couples the batteris together but when the charging voltage goes away the the batteries are separated. That way I do not have to worry about wether or not I did the switching.

I have been buddies with my Interstate battery supplier for years and have always run them in my boats. I have one deep cycle marine and one cranking deep cycle as mentioned. I've never had a problem with my interstaes and my buddy cuts me a great deal when I need them.

The one thing I like about the optima batteries is their claim to have a very low loss of charge when not in use. They say that even if you didn't use it for a year there would be plenty of charge left. I don't worry about a few months in the winter anymore when I don't use them.

I have a 17SR. I put 2 a-27 AGM batteries up in the cutty. These batteries weight 63 lbs. apiece. I needed AGM because I needed to put them on their side in order to fit. Since they are comlpetely sealed, they can be on their side. I wanted the weight forward
They are against the bulkhead port & Starboard. I Have the Perko switch On the inside starboard bulkhead...........Copterdede6

It is called a xantrex battery combiner. It is in the west marine catalouge. Works great.

Optimas died early death on my boat (I seem to be able to kill anything that other dogs love ???? go figure) Ficht charging system not up to Optima requirements - they are a pit finicky. Note that newer 4-strokes appear to have this licked..

I switched to wet Trojans
