Re: I am looking for a tax preparer.
I can't actually give you any names due to a potential conflict of interest, I myself do not prepare tax returns for others any longer. Please do not just pick one out of the phone book. When you do get some recommendations (and you will) - go and visit them - is their office well kept - can they carry on a conversation - is this a person you wouldn't mind going to lunch with? Ask them if they are insured, will they cover penalties and interest if they make a mistake and they are assessed against you? Do they have openings in their schedule so that your return gets the attention it deserves. Sorry for being so vague, but the Accountants I've gotten along the best with over the years were pretty good people - the one's I had problems with were pretty easy to pick out just due to their behavior.
