Default Got my RECURVE!!

Just bought a Black Widow recurve from Fishalot. Very nice bow. Nice guy too. Took it out in the yard and was shooting it from 10 yards. About 9 arrows hit the stump within 4 or 5 inches of each other with one stray that missed the stump. But now all my arrows are stuck in the stump. I need a target. See classifieds. Stepped in cat crap and got it all over the patio. Told my wife I found a good target since I don't have any cats. What are you supposed to do though? I really want to shoot those stupid little animals. I think people need to keep the damn things inside or on a leash. I just hate the smell of that crap and hate mowing and letting my kids play in the yard with all of it out there.

My 3 year old keeps wanting to shoot my bow. He tries to pull the string back but can't, so he takes the arrow and throws it. I went and bought him a toy one. It seems to keep him happy. But I still don't have a target.

Hopefully I will get good out to about 20 yards by sprng bear season. Real good.

Apply for the Trout Crek mountains traditional hunt. Its the only way to actually hunt the area.

BTW - Trap the cats out with a havahart and take them to the humane society.

Is that hunt for bear? Or deer or elk?

Glad to see another hunter putting the "arch" back in archery!

Have fun!

Do you aim or shoot instinctive? I am reading INSTICTIVE SHOOTING by G. Fred Asbell right now.

It is amazing what you can hit without "aiming."

I just like the idea of hunting without messing around with sites and rests and releases and all that. Just want to shoot.

2leys...I shoot instinctive, just like throwing a baseball, don't think about it. Myself, I have to concentrate really hard, I'm right-handed, but left-eye dominant. My self imposed range is 20-25 yards, and I HAVE to stick with it!

Are you shooting wood arrows? I have cedar, lodgepole pine, but mostly douglas fir that I make myself. The Wensel Woodsman 3-blade is a great broadhead to try. I've used them the last three years and have taken a Blacktail buck and two bulls. Short recovery on all.

The Trout Creek hunt is for mule deer.

I haven't ever shot a bow besides a little cheapy hardware one as a kid and a friends compound without sites when I was a teen. I used to be very good with the little cheapy recurve. Could hit about everything. So far I like what I am able to do with this one. Just throw your arrow at it.

It came with a bunch of aluminum eatston 2018's.

I want to try others though.

Thanks.
