There two pistol innovations in the last century and the Glock is one of them. Cheap, rust free, simple, low-maintenance, dead reliable. Great gun.
Check out some sites on the net that specialize in Glock goodies (Glockmeister). I really like the sandpaper grip panel kits. You might also want to give the 3.5lb disconnector a try as it does improve the trigger. You should probably change the recoil spring at around the 2K round mark (cheap part).
The biggest hurdle in shooting the Glock accurately is mastering the trigger. I suggest you do a lot of dry firing while balancing a quarter on the front blade.
Most new right-handed shooters will mash the trigger and shoot low and left. At the first level of proficiency you will be able to stroke the Glock trigger and put your shots where you want them. The second level of proficiency is where you learn how to "short-reset" the trigger and pull off accurate double-taps. If you shoot a mix of pistols, achieving the second-level will be difficult.
I strongly suggest that you check
www.ammoman.com and buy a case of whatever is cheapest and have a blast. Just do me a favor and clean up your shooting area when you are done.
