Glocks are like any other firearm .. only better

Keep it LIGHTLY ... hear that LIGHTLY oiled after cleaning. put one or two drops on your finger and that is more than enough for the outter barrel and any where metal contacts metal.

You will notice the Tenefure (sp) finish on the slide fade with time that is NORMAL. It is not like bluing and will not rub off.

For the best infromation go to glock.com

good shooting .. grip stance breath sights

1. Dump the plastic sites. Your first oops will trash them. Invest in some combat Novak nite-sites.
2. If you find the recoil harsh, get a HARRTS recoil reducing guide rod; I have one and they work great.
3. If you find the grip stippling on the front and backstraps painful, wrap some elastic bandage tape around the gun; they come in many kewl colors - mines purple.
4. If you find the gun points naturally high or does not fit your hand as well as you want, grip reductions can be made by ARS in AZ, or Robar for $125-175.00

There two pistol innovations in the last century and the Glock is one of them. Cheap, rust free, simple, low-maintenance, dead reliable. Great gun.

Check out some sites on the net that specialize in Glock goodies (Glockmeister). I really like the sandpaper grip panel kits. You might also want to give the 3.5lb disconnector a try as it does improve the trigger. You should probably change the recoil spring at around the 2K round mark (cheap part).

The biggest hurdle in shooting the Glock accurately is mastering the trigger. I suggest you do a lot of dry firing while balancing a quarter on the front blade.

Most new right-handed shooters will mash the trigger and shoot low and left. At the first level of proficiency you will be able to stroke the Glock trigger and put your shots where you want them. The second level of proficiency is where you learn how to "short-reset" the trigger and pull off accurate double-taps. If you shoot a mix of pistols, achieving the second-level will be difficult.

I strongly suggest that you check www.ammoman.com and buy a case of whatever is cheapest and have a blast. Just do me a favor and clean up your shooting area when you are done.

You picked a nice gun to be your first. I carry a glock 23 everyday for work and for personal use. They are an ideal weapon for both. I agree with others carry jacketed ammo. Also go to the range as often as possible. The more you train with it the more comfertable you will be handeling it. There are many safety courses out there as well. And one last thing...When you are not cleaning it or getting ready to take it to a range, LOCK IT UP so kids ot thieves don't have easy access to it. Be safe
