Great photo!

While driving across the (new) Young's Bay bridge this morning from Warrenton to Astoria, there was a raft of about 20 of these big mergs in the shallows (less than a foot of water) near the shoreline reeds and grasses. Out in deeper and diving water were a half dozen mallards.

The two species seemed to me to be in the wrong places.
