Default 22 single shots - Recomendations

Looking for recommendations for 22 single shots for kids. Time to start teaching the kids about guns and shooting and looking for something the right size for them.

Already looked at the various Marlins, Savage, Rossi, Henry's. Leaning towards the Henry Mini, but the Marlin and Savage offerings are far more affordable. Anything you want to pass along please do

I grew up shooting tweeties with a Savage Arms Model 30G "Stevens Favorite." I would recommend it as a first cartridge gun for a young shooter, especially if you are interested in a .22 single shot.

Everyone out here has one of these...even myself
If you can find one, get one...

Stevens Savage Model 15, 22 Short, Long, Or Long Rifle...
I got one that was all rusted, stock was nasty looking, real used gun. I restored the gun, reblued and refinished the stock and she looks real pretty I say so myself and shoots like a winner too.
Only thing is, mine is missing the ejector, so if anyone knows of anyone who has an extra one for the Stevens Model 15, let me know..

Rossie makes small .22/410 combo thats great for kids. It's a breach loader single shot which I think is safer than an auto loader for kids. They have to think through every shot which makes it easier to teach them proper shooting technique and range safety. You can pick one up at Bi-Mart for about $100.00. The factory sights are pretty bad so you will want to replace those. I started my son shooting targets with the .22 and then we would go hunting for starings with the .410. He really enjoyed "hunting" for starlings and it was good field practice. Don't forget to get them a set of ear muffs to go with it.

I also found he enjoyed shooting clay pigon's for targets because they break when they hit them. I tried baloons, but got tired of filling them up .

I spent a couple week-ends refinishing a Remington single shot for my grandson, he was getting way to use to the Ruger with 25 round clips and hitting nothing, he has been shooting a lot with the single and saving me a bundle, and with iron he is getting pretty good, will probably upgrade him to 4 power soon, He really has learn patients with the single. I think everone should start with one. Ray

Got my little girl (10)the Marlin, had a peep put on it. She loves it and shoots it well. We might upgrade to a scope this summer, she's got the idea of how to use the metal sights now. Good gun.
