Default PSE Coyote Reviews??

I'm considering buying a PSE coyote. Has anyone out there owned or shot a PSE coyote? If so, what was your opinion of it? Would you buy another? Why or why not?

Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

IMHO, this recurve is a little bit of both worlds. It has recurve speed but you can use a two prong rest pin sites and all the beels and whistles of a compound. I think If you are going to go traditional You should do just that and not buy into all the Wheelie bow stuff. I know a few guys that got those bows and after a year sold them to get a wood recurve and started shooting off the shelf instingtively. But two each his own, I know somebody on this site had one for sale not long ago. Cheers Rich

Found this. You might be interested.

Granted, most product evaluations are geared toward men. OK, there are more of us in the hunting field but I'm going to take a slightly differing tact and host a column that reviews products from a ladies point of view. After all, woman are now making up the fastest growing segment of bowhunting. Seems the little women are getting out of the kitchen and out to the range and woods. What a great thing for us all. So, in the spirit of the day, here is my first product review, geared for women.
The P.S.E. COYOTE is a 60" take down recurve that has all the features one looks for in a recurve. For starters, it has a machined aluminum riser, laminated limbs and choices in draw weights from 40-55 lbs. The brush camo finish is perfect for any terrain. The bow is equipped with standard holes for sight, quiver, standard plunger hole for any style of rest and is cut back 11/16" past center shot. This bow also comes equipped for installing PSE's two-piece quiver. The mass weight is about 3 lbs. So carrying the bow should be not a burden. The price tag around $200 is right on target also.

THE TESTS.

The bow I shot was a 45lb@28" draw. I normally shoot a 27" inch draw and this bow measured out at 43 lbs at 27 inches. Installing a Bohning rubber arrow rest with extension to put it on center line. I used Easton Aluminum XX75 1916 with feathers and shot a Saunders Fab tab.

The first arrow shot through the chronograph at 160 fps. with the following four at: 157, 163, 158 and 159. So the average speed was 159.2. Not bad for a light weight hunting recurve. Remember that arrow speed is a combination of bow poundage, draw length, arrow length and weight. Remember too that the longer the draw the more speed you obtain and vice versa.

FEEL: Something I am an advocate of is the feel of a bow handle. If it does not feel good, regardless of anything else, you are not going to shoot well. The grip with wooden handle was on the small size. My hands are not large so it felt well and should for most woman with medium to small hands. Definitely a plus.

WEIGHT: Like I said at 3lbs a real conveince on the range, at 3Ds or hunting.

NOISE: I shot the bow with out silencers. It made noise I did not like and was a little disconcerted. Then I installed Tarantulas and every one said it was ultra quiet. A little felt where the string touches the string grooves would not hurt either,.

Rating 1 is lowest 5 is highest

Feel 5
Shootability 5
Noise 5 after installing silencers
WEIGHT 5
LOOKS 5
Tuning 5
Price 5

In Summation; The bow grouped arrows well. It was easy to handle and felt nice. The bow was easy to put together and if you are slight in stature or rugged enough to pull the higher weights this is a bow female or male shooters will enjoy. If in doubt which weight to buy purchase the lighter draw models. For around two hundred dollars you will not go wrong. Hope to see your picture with game you harvested with this bow.

If you really are looking at this bow because of the cheep price let me suggest the chec-mate line I think this is the best keeped secreat in trad archery. they aren't the prettiest bows on the market but they do a great job. look at them at www.recurves.com The chec-mate falcon is a steal at 225.00 I love mine.

Gottafish,

The price of the coyote is not what I was basing a decision on. I want a take down bow that is set up for mounting a sight without having to drill into the handle. I want a bow that i'm not afraid to use in any condition, nor one that i'm going to cry about when I fall on my ass and slam the bow into a rock (which I have the ability to do on perfectly flat and dry ground). I want one that I don't have to worry about making sure it gets dried off every time I use it, even if there's 12' of snow on the ground or its raining cats and dogs. If they made this bow with synthetic limbs, I would look at it very hard, as long as it grouped arrows like a champ. Kinda like the guys toting rifles with stainless barrels and synthetic stocks. So I'm open to any other suggestions of bows that meet those criteria. Thanks again for all your help!

Ahhhh, Now we know what you are looking for in a recurve...

Forget the Coyote and get the Hoyt Gamemaster...Twice the price ,but 4 times the bow....It will take sights and screw on rests ,or you can shoot off the shelf...Can't do that with the PSE...

I wouldn't mind having one also..
