AKC name for Riley
Hey gang,
I'm getting ready to submit Riley's paperwork. It was recommended to me that I should come up with a "special" name for him...something majestic, official sounding, etc, etc.
Well, I'm drawing a bit of a blank. Anyone have any suggestions?
He's a Yellow Lab, 5 mos. Sunday. He's going to be a large dog. Very large (assuming he ever grows into these feet).
Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Augustus?
Bocefus?
Or Ivy League...."Harvard"
Maybe Tarzan if he is like a monkey in a cage.
Good luck.

Re: AKC name for Riley
what is the name of his (biological) dad or kennel?
My brother's golden is "officially" named Sisco's Sweet Sierra. Sisco is the name of the sire. I think standard convention is to include the name of either the sire or the breeder (kennel).

Re: AKC name for Riley
Look at the pedigree for your dog and that should give you some ideas (as previously mentioned).
Most have the kennel name and some play on or 'theme' to a lineage. For instance the 'sires' on my pup's lineage look like this...
Rippin' Blue Thunder
Storms Riptide Star
Merganser's Classice Rip and Tear
We ended up naming ours "Tearin' Tornado Tess" keeping with the "tear" and "weather" theme.
Some people just go off what they like or try to include some personality feature of their pup.
Good luck and have fun with it.

My dog is O. keta, as in the species name for dog salmon.

Re: AKC name for Riley
How about "(the sire's/kennel name)'s Mello Yello".
He is yellow and hopefully mellow....

Re: AKC name for Riley
My old black girl,(rest her weary bird fetching soul) was AJ. She was registered as "aunt jamima's rooster rouster". If I remember correctly this was exactly the maximum number of caracter you can use??? The fish finder part came from her talent of diving to fetch things. She was schooled early on by a wounded duck that kept diving when she got close. She eventually learned to follow them under. People use to comment that she was going down to look for fish when she dove out of the drift boat and headed for the bottom. It looks pretty strange watching a dog swim down 10 feet in search of a rock someone threw. Even stranger when she would come back up with the right one, even thought the river bottom is covered with rocks.

Re: AKC name for Riley
Unfortunately, he's anything but mellow. He's 110% at everything. Petting seems to be an annoyance to him, just no time for it. I sure hope he outgrows this.
