Default Hunted the big C

My father, uncle, and myself hunted the river by longview today. We ended up getting to the wooden blind to find the water was 3 inches from coming over the bottom of it. It is usually 6ft off of the ground. I had to shuttle both of them to the blind with the canoe. Then my dad dropped his gun in the water. OOps. So he stripped his clothes and went swimming. I bet most of us can't say we hunted ducks naked. Once he got his clothes and waders on he was warmed up again.
It was not exactly fast action but we were the only ones anywhere close to where we were hunted and we could only blame ourselves for the mistakes we made. We ended up shooting 5 bluebills, 2 greenheads, 1 goldeneye, and a sawbill(had to shoot the sawbill for extra practice for the dog). Sorry I don't have pictures but so far I have not had luck trying to put them on.

Yep, I have been watching the water level at work the last few days, it's the highest I have ever seen. I hear it was higher during the flood of '96. Naked duck hunting, your old man is tough!!!

That's gotta be about the worst feeling you could have out there.........Dropping your gun in the drink! And then seeing your Dad get in his birthday suit and dive in. Priceless. A picture ( for the scrap book, NOT HERE ) would be hilarious. Sounds like a fun hunt after you got going.

One rainy Saturday back in the day I was actually studying at home when the phone rang. It was my hunting buddy, and his first words were, "you got any air in that SCUBA tank?" My immediate response was, "Soooo, which shotgun went over the side?". He said no, it was the kicker...OUCH!

So, the next day Ross "rowed" me out to the scene, and had the spot nailed, because as I hit the bottom, I hit the kicker, and was back to the boat with it in 30 seconds. It was in a slough on the Willamette just southwest of Salem and the visibility was ZERO! He took the motor home, dried it out, and it started right up. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

I dont know about dropping a gun in the drink being the worst. I had my glasses come off and fall in and I am blind with out them. I had a heck of a time getting home. It sucked

Sounds like a "fun" hunt. Bluebills, Mallards, Sawbills and skinny dippin'......Hey come to think of it that wasn't your dad I saw walkin' BUCK NAKED on the "clothing optional" beach across from McNary Saturday was it?

I still can't believe there was somebody skinny dippin' out there. At least your dad had a good reason!!

Congrats on a successful hunt!
