My father, uncle, and myself hunted the river by longview today. We ended up getting to the wooden blind to find the water was 3 inches from coming over the bottom of it. It is usually 6ft off of the ground. I had to shuttle both of them to the blind with the canoe. Then my dad dropped his gun in the water. OOps. So he stripped his clothes and went swimming. I bet most of us can't say we hunted ducks naked. Once he got his clothes and waders on he was warmed up again.
It was not exactly fast action but we were the only ones anywhere close to where we were hunted and we could only blame ourselves for the mistakes we made. We ended up shooting 5 bluebills, 2 greenheads, 1 goldeneye, and a sawbill(had to shoot the sawbill for extra practice for the dog). Sorry I don't have pictures but so far I have not had luck trying to put them on.

One rainy Saturday back in the day I was actually studying at home when the phone rang. It was my hunting buddy, and his first words were, "you got any air in that SCUBA tank?" My immediate response was, "Soooo, which shotgun went over the side?". He said no, it was the kicker...OUCH!
So, the next day Ross "rowed" me out to the scene, and had the spot nailed, because as I hit the bottom, I hit the kicker, and was back to the boat with it in 30 seconds. It was in a slough on the Willamette just southwest of Salem and the visibility was ZERO! He took the motor home, dried it out, and it started right up. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!
