What do you like on the hunting forum?
I've had two suggestions, recently.
I'd like to know how you feel.
One is that people are tired of the "guess where this picture is" thread...
The other is that they'd like a waterfowl only board.
I am VERY hesitant to add new boards, as new boards seldom get used as much as they should, maintenance is high, and I have to get new moderators to watch it. Also, lots of forums are confusing to new users and like I said... they are rarely successful.
Anyhow, you let me know, OK?

Re: What do you like on the hunting forum?
Please don't change the Hunting board by adding a Waterfowl board. The mix is wonderful as it is.

Re: What do you like on the hunting forum?
i like the idea of a waterfowl board, but the hunting board is fine the way it is.
as for the "where am i" threads..i like those to and voted as such, but why can't they be kept down to two or three threads...not 20. in all fairness..the same could be said for the Sauvie Island report threads..no need for a new thread for each shoot day. just a SI report thread would be nice.

Don't change anything, Jen...I can scan past the where's-waldo stuff just as easily as others can pick through my duck and goose subjects...

Re: What do you like on the hunting forum?
No need to change anything! There's plenty of room for waterfowling threads as it is. Is you and the mods decide the "where/photo" threads need to stop, fine! No big deal. I think they're fun to pass the time this winter, they'll get fazed out on their own I'm sure.

Re: What do you like on the hunting forum?
My
Don't change a thing. A waterfowl board would be cool, but not worth the extra effort IMHO. Besides I can go to the hunting board and see everything from sucessful hunts to Skeins cool predator rifle . Tech tips on chokes & loads, how to build a boat blind (I have the pic's ready finally), archery tips (I don't bow hunt, but I still skim 'em), Trapping, great discussions...........Don't change a thing!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Don't change nothing the forum is great as is. But a waterfowl forum would certainly be welcome. Alot of waterfowlers out here.

Re: What do you like on the hunting forum?
It's good for hunters to be galvanized in their intrests. I want to know what is going on with all hunters. Especially if there is a serious threat to a form of hunting.
An example is that thread on how many ducks do you have. It proved there was some grey area to bring clairity to.
As for the where am I photos I think it's a creative idea for discussion. Eventually it may provide someone with an insight too. It's fun for some and is no threat to others so I see no problem.
It is best for hunters to be united. Hunters (more than fishermen) need to be united in knowing what is going on in all interests of hunting.

Re: What do you like on the hunting forum?
Another vote for the "its great how it is" vibe. A waterfowl only board would be dead 8 months out of the year anyway.
Its so easy to not read posts that I dont quite see the issue of needing a seperate board just for duck hunting.

yup...just as easy as it is to not visit a waterfowl forum topic if you don't want to. just because YOU don't want it doesn't mean others won't.
your own logic is a double standard.

Re: What do you like on the hunting forum?
I can't see having a separate Waterfowl board. Guys may complain about it but I haven't seen waterfowlers complain about to many big game hunting stories.
As far as the where pics go, just make sure the guys keep them a sensible size, dial-up kills me waiting for the pics.

Re: What do you like on the hunting forum?
Leave it as-is. Hunting is seasonal. The big show right now is Waterfowl. In a few months, it'll be Turkey. Then it will be everyone jonesing throught the warm months, and back to archery.
As far as "where is it" threads, keep in mind, rivers are blown out. Not everyone hunts ducks. Not much to do as the seasons close. It's fun to guess. When other entertainments come back, these threads will peter out, again.

Let it be.....
Threads can be skipped and since this is actually "IFISH"....Hunting is an added bonus.
It's enjoyable to see and hear all the differences that bind us together as a community.

Re: What do you like on the hunting forum?
Jennie, I'm a waterfowler and I don't see the need for it. I think it would be idle for most of the year. This works great like it is. Don't change anything.

Re: What do you like on the hunting forum?
I like that fact that all the hunting is in one place. You get the occasional Elk hunter chatting about ducks, and the random duck hunter posting about archery. It's great! I love this site, and I think a waterfowling only board would be used heavily by myself and maybe 20 others for 5 months out the year, but that would be it.
I'd be forced to look at the "Where Am I" posts on the "Fur Hunting" board to pass my time... so might as well keep things the way they are...

Re: What do you like on the hunting forum?
All I want is a hunting classified section. There is a lot of stuff in the classified like guns and decoys. Don't want to sort through all the other stuff to see it. Or maybe let us post hunting related stuff on this board.

Re: What do you like on the hunting forum?
Went hunting for a few days and come back and missed this thread
The good part of the hunting board is when the duck season is over those duck and goose threads quit cluttering things up
Duck season isnt long enough to support a full forum
The "where am I" threads which started recently are pretty cool. Some I can place, some I cant, but either way they show our great NW of which I have not seen all of it yet in person.

Based on the amount of responses I 'd say the "Guess where this is " Thread are kinda popular and that speaks for itself.
I don't understand people that are critical of others post.
It's like TV. If you don't like what you see Turn off the set or change channels.

Re: What do you like on the hunting forum?
Thanks for all you do Jen.
I think the hunting page is great the way it is, a good mix of everything and I get to learn somethings about things I don't often do.Like most anything it is seasonal as to what is being posted.
I do look at some of the Where am I posts but keep them so it doesn't take all night to load on dial up users. Thanks and hope to see you at the Sportsman Show again.
