Why a good night's sleep is so important
This is why you need a good nights sleep before heading out opener morning!

Re: Why a good night's sleep is so important
It's not funny. Years ago I tried bowhunting elk from a ground blind in WA's Naneum unit. Snuggled in before daylight on a frequently used game trail, I prepared for the onslaught. Sometime early that morning, I apparently dozed off. I awoke at about 10:30am to find not only fresh elk tracks on the trail, but two sets of 'people' tracks. I sure hope they didn't see me....

Re: Why a good night's sleep is so important
A guide that I know in Montana would wake his high camp clients early in the morning with, "Ssshh, there're fresh tracks out back".
"How fresh"?
"He's still standing in them".

Re: Why a good night's sleep is so important
Now this is a TRUE story because I SAW it. Was hunting in Ukiah 2 years ago, got my buck opening morning and next day was going in to see how my buddies were doing. I'm at the top of a huge burn, see a guy stump sitting, says its okay for me to go down below as I might scare something up for him. I get his FRS channel. 20 minutes later I'm headed down a chute and I see a guy asleep. Then I see a NICE 4-pt coming up the chute. I call the stump sitter and describe the guy on the ledge, says it's his buddy. The deer is crossing in front of him about 50 yards away, just strolling. I explain to him what's going on and within seconds he and his buddies are sqauking at ol' "goober" to wake up. Dang, it WAS funny.

Re: Why a good night's sleep is so important
Well I'm guilty of that Back in I believe it was 95 after an all nighter my brother picked me up to head out to the Battle Ground for a late season hunt.I found a nice bench shaped bend it a maple tree and proceded to nod off,No idea how long I was out but was awoke by a herendous noise and looked up to see my brother about 50yds away with his shotgun pointed in my general direction. To say the least I was abit startled, even more when I noticed the forked horn laying no more than 10 feet away from me.

Re: Why a good night's sleep is so important
My wife really got a kick out of that one, I could see this happening, I have fell asleep in the blind, woke up to a sound of Elk eating close, and the sound of Elk departing. Ray
