Default Trail Cameras

Anyone use trail cameras? I am thinking about buying one and trying it out. Any advice? I can't afford a digital one, so I would be buying a 35mm film camera. Please let me know what you like and dis-like. I want one with both the date and time if that is possible. Also where did you buy yours?

Thanks!

One of the guys I hunt with got one last year. He got several pics of trees moving, and a bunch of bears and one nice little 3 point. Make sure the area is clear of any limbs that might blow into the view of the IR eye. His is a 35mm and it was only about 75 bucks. He also set it in a place so you could tell if the sun was coming up, full up, or going down. Helps you figure out when they are on the move... Good Luck

A friend of mine who is an arrow slinger bought one. Spent the big $$$$ to get time and date. Spent about 3 hours getting it all set up in the "perfect" location. Left it out for a full week, which just about killed him waiting. He was real excited when he came back and all 36 had been taken. Some big prints in the area had him about to loose it in his shorts. Paid extra for the 1 hour developing. Wow!!!! 36 shots of a little doe sniffing the entire area. Some so close they were out of focus. Never have heard if he ever got any decent buck photos???

I too am curious about the results of these cams. I have thought about getting one, but since I am hunting on public land I have been worried about it getting ripped off.Any thoughts?

I have a homebrew trailcam that a friend helped me build. It uses a Canon Owl 35mm, and takes some pretty nics pics.

Mine has taken pics of deer, elk, bear, coyotes, bobcats, and turkeys. I'm still waiting for some Mtn Lion pics.

Here's the website if anyone wants info on building their own. Browse around until you find the page for Homebrew trailcams. There's also forums for jsut about everything imaginable.
