Tillamook bay crabbing 12/29/ 05
I went crabbing in Tillamook bay this morning with two friends, we had 9 traps and shad for bait. We placed our first set at Lysters corner (6) and the other 3 across the channel at the corner on the north side of the south jetty. We made our first set at 10 AM. The swells were large and we decided to pull our gear and set behind the jetty at Crab Harbor. We pulled 3 keepers on the first pull at the jetty. We finished with 24 nice crab for the day, we stopped fishing at about 2:00 in the afternoon. We only saw a few people crabbing, one boat was crabbing in the south channel mid way down BayOcean spit. They had 10 when we talked to them. The run off was huge, the water was brown, the wind was strong and had a great time. I think we were very lucky to even get a few, our best trap produced 6 keepers for a short soak. Arima Billy
