Springer Plugs? (pics)
Here's a pic of some plugs I picked up awhile back. Does anyone fish with these for Springers? If so, how'd they work? How do you fish them? Behind a diver, or what? This is my first upload so please exuse the size.
Any Ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated.

I think if you get them down in front of the fish and they smell appetizing, than fish on. When you have multiple rods out one day, put one down with these buggers and start experimenting, I bet they will work.

Those are darned interesting! I think I'd want to know more about them before I put them in the water. They look highly collectable.

Re: Springer Plugs? (pics)
Pete, I go to Whistler British Columbia snowboarding every year at spring break. While there I run upto a little town called Pemberton and goto the sporting goods store there to see If there is anything unusual they have up there that we don't have down here. These are what I've found. The Top plug is called a Swim Whizz It does'nt have any info on the package on how to fish it. The next 3 are all Canadian Wigglers, The jointed one dives between 10 and 16FT and the others 8 to 10ft.

Re: Springer Plugs? (pics)
If they're not antique, and you can get more, fish em! I want to see a picture of really big springer with that in it's mouth this year.

Re: Springer Plugs? (pics)
I had a nightmare the other night, following my usual jalapeno-anchovy-kiwi-sand-shrimp paste on toast bedtime snack.
It wasn't the five-headed, shark-toothed, 15-foot-long sturgeon which woke me up in a panic. It was a replica of that first plug!

Re: Springer Plugs? (pics)
It's a pretty nasty lookin thing isn't it. The package says "Many record fish caught" I guess we'll find out! If I was a fish and saw that thing coming at me I'd hi-tail it out-a-there. Like Zaq said "I'll give em a try and I plan on posting a Fish picture with one of those hanging out it's mouth"
Then I'll be takin orders for my next trip to Canada.

Re: Springer Plugs? (pics)
Russ-
The last time I saw something very identical to that bottom plug was when it was hanging out of a decent (36#) fish off V. Island a couple years back. They catch fish...this guy had his box open and it was overflowing with the things...I'm not sure what they'll do here, but they definitely catch fish. I do know that he was working his other rod with a downrigger.

Re: Springer Plugs? (pics)
Just goes to show ya'. There are 4 prime examples of what happens to your flatfish when you fish that stretch downstream from Trojan Nuclear Plant.
Plop in a nice k-14....... fish it for 20 minutes....reel up and you'll find a double jointed double ended, stubbed out, nuked-out morphed wobbler!

Re: Springer Plugs? (pics)
We are headed to Canada for a week of Muskie,Pike, and Walleye fishing this summer.
Brings back memories of fishing there as a kid. Believers. Swim Wizz. Suick's( actually a jerk bait. But they look similar...sorta.), Grandma's. That stuff is big time cool in Ontario.
Lotta casting for a bite. But it sure is fun when it happens.

Re: Springer Plugs? (pics)
PP - The top plug is a musky lure known as a "Believer". I've used them on Lake St. Clair in southeast Michigan and in Vilas County, Wisconsin for muskies. The others are Candian Wigglers. All were built for muskies and northern pike. They're either trolled directly behind the boat (in the prop-wash) or, more likely, cast with fairly heavy gear. I would never consider using them on spring Chinook, although I don't have any reason why not.
When fishing for springers, I usually stick with plug cut herring behind a fish flash (on the mainstem Columbia), or eggs/sand shrimp when fishing the tribs (Kalama/Lewis). But try'em and see what you get. Let us know.

Re: Springer Plugs? (pics)
CohoAngler- Cool now I have some plugs for fishing lake Mayfield. Did you see the post titled "How do you fish for these." Check it out. I didn't know there were any Muskies or Pike around here.
Thanks for the info.
