Hey Dean that's a 17 second interval. I'd say go for it. Mark

The 11 am wave summary from Stonewall Buoy

Significant Wave Height (H0): 13.8 ft
Swell Height (SwH): 12.5 ft
Swell Period (SwP): 16.0 sec
Wind Wave Height (WWH): 5.9 ft
Wind Wave Period (WWP): 7.1 sec
Wave Steepness (STEEPNESS): SWELL
Average Wave Period (AVP): 8.5 sec

and the forecast is for it to get worse

Consider that it's not gonna get better this week and the ocean crab season opens Sat. I bet some of the commercial crabbers will be setting pots this week (or have they already done that?) and pulling them on Sat. I think they are nuts to go out there in those conditions, but I never claimed to be gutsy and don't claim it now. I hope they come home safely.

The commercial crabbers were supposed to start putting pots out yesturday and start picking them up on Jan 1. As of this morning, no boats have left Newport, and it does not appear that they will for a while.

I encountered water 18 inches deep flowing across Hwy 126 in the Cushman area 2 miles east of Florence today. The Siuslaw River was flowing across the highway at 10:45am today. I expect it will be closed soon. The river at Mapleton is above flood stage but the highway is still clear there. I was driving a SUV and was darn glad that I sat so high.

I was at Charleston Tuesday and all the commercial crab boats were still in the harbor. Predicted swells there were 22 feet according to the folks I talked with.

Wouldn't this be good Halii fishing, the bait would cause some good action to the bait or jigs with the sudden rise from the boat and then go back down really fast. So we should be loading up and heading out. Whatu think!
I have my root beer and sandwich in a sack to go.
