Default Sandy River Delta

Does anybody out there have any info on the delta, ie where to hunt, when you can hunt, do you have to bring a boat or just set up your dekes on some sheet water and shoot em with their feet down. Any info would be great.

Thanks in advance WW

my friend hunted it last year, just walk in in the dark, set up and shoot.

Some dumby came by and started to pick up his decoys right at first light.

They came out of hiding and said "hey, what the heck"... the dumby said. "oh i thought that someone just left these here".

What a dumby, or is it dummy?

Anyway, they got lots of teal and a few big ducks.

You have to hunt the area N of the Bonneville power lines i believe.... it says in the regs.

The last time I hunted out there was about five years ago. Puddle ducks were around sometimes and sometimes they weren't. There always seemed to be mergansers flying around.

It may be best to just take a gun and walk the area to find the spot you want to hunt. Then come back another time and set up the deeks. Also careful of the waders, there are lots of blackberries to deal with.

I live just down the road from there and have hunted it a lot. Spoonys are the main duck with a bit of mallards and the like and a few teal once and a while a goose will come by. Lots of dog walkers and a few anti hunters that just want to ruin your day. I did get a goose there a time or to. Honestly Its my last resort. Id rather hunt Si than that place Its a long walk back to where the ducks can be A dog is a must. Don't be suprized if you hunt all day for two or three chances at a bird. But heck Give it a try. My best day there was 2 mallards and a spoony 1 teal and a goose out of hunting it about 50 times. I wish they would turn that place into a refuge like Si and plant some food out there. thats the problem there is nothing for the birds to eat so they don't hold there.
