Default Sturgeon Challenge Thank You's

I would like to thank all of you that participated this year in the Sturgeon Challenge. What a great turn out in the Willamette area and certainly a bunch of well behaved fishers today.

Lots of friendly folks at the Cathedral Park ramp and I enjoyed meeting some more new I-fishers out there.

I appologize for the weather and the lack of fish but God had other ideas for those items. Still some spectacullar rainbows, sunbreaks, hail, rain and wind. Just no snow this time thankfully. But hey, its Oregon and Washington right. What do ya expect in the winter time?

Thanks again everyone for participating.

Bernie - thanks for putting this together!!! What a blast, er uh, cast.....could have had blast a couple times. It was the text book Oregon outdoor experience!

This was the fisrt iFish function we have attended as team. Looking forward to many more!

BTW, Bernie, I tried to hollar at you on the radio, but someone said you were busy with an anchor rope or some such thing. We were anchored up just below the MC on the west side of Team Hog Hunter just before they moved.

On behalf of Team Cast and Blast, thanks again to C&E and all the iFishers out there. What a great time!!! A lot of class acts out there!

Bobber down!

Always nice putting faces to Ifish names.
KHH nice meeting you and look forward to doing some fishing with you sometime.

Met so many people from Ifish at the ramp in the afternoon that I lost track of you all. But it was still nice to meet you all .

I did notice that even with the amount of people trying to launch in the morning and pick up in the afternoon that everyone was very patient and given the weather and number of boats I was sure it would have been a zoo but it wasn’t and that was great. Thanks again for everyone that put it together

Yes, a big thank you!!

It was good to fish with new people, and tie some faces to names!!

Thanks to WillametteRiverOutlaw, Birdhunter, and Dakotan!

It took till the last bait of the day to get Birdhunter into a fish, but we finally did it.

Lots of shakers.

Thanks Bernie!! If I had known that was you talking to Luke as you were leaving I would have jumped down out of the boat and been a little more talkative.

And a big thank you to Taylor's Viewpoint for letting us ride in is way too nice of a boat. Thanks the Kruechief for getting Team Cranky together. Thanks to Lucky Luke for joining us, It was good to fish with you again man, this time I didnt chum

I met alot of ifishers yesterday, The Rougue, WRO, Dakotan, Kentucky Hog Hunter and a bunch of others.

On the way home just north of Salem Kruechief and I saw Degner dragging the ugly Green and Yellow Boice down the freeway. We made sure we showed him the 'True Colors" as we passed him That is a nice boat except for the colors...

Yes, thank you for getting this together. We has it all. Rain, hail, wind and yes even some sun. The fishing was slow even for shakers for us but had tons of bites. We did manage to get one keeper. It was nice to see so many Ifishers out on the water. Lets do it again next year. Thanks to First Light Bite and Greg and Glen for making it a great day on the water.

A big thanks to Rogue for finding some room for me in his boat. I enjoyed meeting fellow ifishers Rogue, WillametteRiverOutlaw, and Birdhunter. We all caught some shakers and had a good time talking fishing. Thanks again Rogue and to all who organized it.

Bernie, Thanks for putting this together and a HUGE THANKS for dragging me along. I had a BLAST and I learned a lot from you, Carl and Don. In fact, I think I have yet another addiction. It was wonderful to see all the boats out on the water and feel like I was 'part of something' I don't get that feeling when I go fishing from the bank. So, anytime you need some extra weight in the boat, don't hesitate to give me a shout.
Again, thanks for the event and the ride.

Bernie a job well done. I saw a lot of I-Fishers at the ramp and on the water. I also herd a lot of fun being had on the raido by several I-Fishers. It may not have been the best cathing day for everyone but it sounded and looks as if everyone had a terrific time.
I want to thank my crew of Ugly Green-Brad, Bug Flicker-Keith and Fall River Guy, Brian. These are all fine fisherman and they all have a really good sense of humor. We had a blast.

Thanks Bernie,
We had a great time, even though the fish and weather didn't cooperate. You know, during the closure and up to the day of the snows, STZII and I caught tons of fish. I mean, you cast out. let it hit bottom put it in the rod holder and sit down. Just as you get set back, you have a hit. NOT YESTERDAY. We couldn't get a fish if it came up and bit us in the back of the boat. OH WELL I think you should get the baton just for picking the day.
Thanks for the good time

Thanks Tracey for the vote. I can't think of a more deserving person either. Like you we had been hitting the fish hard and then we just stunk the last two weeks out there. Of course I listen to Tacklebuster and Kentucky Hog Hunter as to where the RED HOT spots were . Should have done my own thing. I think Saturday I would have had more luck steelhead fishing.

Oh well, it's all in good fun and I had a great time out there and it was good to see so many turn out for the event. Be ready sametime next year for the third annual Sturgeon Challenge. I have a feeling somebody is going to want to be rid of a BATON.

I would like to thank Spare Link ( Safety Chains Son) for out fishing my friend and myself too, he got the only keeper in our boat, then had to keep calling his Dad to remind him of their bet..as Safety Chain was watching his team catch fish all day without a fish or a bite I think.. I think the baton should go to Safety Chain as he will lose the bet with his son...............   PS> Spare Link you are welcome aboard any time...

Wow!, you want to give me the baton, pay the bet and live with this kid? No mercy from you

Thanks for taking the young man. He had a blast. I told you he can catch fish. And as usual, I lost to him  . Paid the bet last night. Raw sturgeon, yuck! I have to stop betting this kid. Thank you Mother Nature for blessing us with rain, wind, hail, and sun breaks.

Thank you piece of crap heater for breaking as my hands were in the process of third degree frost bite as the hail fell.

Thank you 4/0 hook for entering and exiting in the meat between my thumb and index finger.

Thank you chunk of herring that somehow fell into my coffee cup that I didn't notice until my very last swallow

Thank you very much for the busted tail light on my boat dragger.

That day tested my sense of humor and passion for fishing like it has never been tested before. Except for maybe springer fishing last year.

Even with that said I wouldn't have missed it for the world Thanks Bernie

A Big Thank You to C&E for organizing (then reorganizing) the Sturgeon Challenge.

And a special thanks to Anger Management (Mark) for inviting me along for my first sturgeon trip, and to Tuna Breath (Marty) for showing me how to rig for gators.

It was a blast. And Team Whatever definitely did NOT win the baton.

Me to Chris. I may end up with that dang BATON and we boated 11 shakers all together. Yes a poor showing indeed  but it's all in fun.

As for the Springer Flotilla or Challenge you will need to get the blessing from last years Flotilla planner Gizmo Man. He did it last year and I have not spoken to him about this year. e-mail him for intentions please. I am sure it will be a hoot.

BTW plan it for Sand Island but handicap Carrots by making them a late start time team. They know that water to well.
