Default Charles Daly Shotgun

I was in Walmart the other day and I see that they carry a Charles Daly shotgun, 249.99 off the shelf. It is a 3.5".
I don't know if this is a walmart only special or not, I was under the impression that daly was more of a custom rifle maker.
The next cheapest gun I can find anywhere is a little over $300 and it isn't near the gun that this one appears to be.

Does anyone out there in Ifish land have any experience with these shotguns. I am real interested in possibly purchasing one, but would like some actual testimony as to how they actually standup in the real world.

NOTE: it is a pump with an advantage wetlands camo pattern. Not sure what kind of barrel the shotty had.

Thanks,

FOD

BGF2 here! I have heard that they are good guns, however, you can get a Benelli Nova over the counter for a little more. It's 279.00 at Bi-Mart or at Sportsman's. It also comes with 3 choke tubes. That's the gun (Nova), I have and I love it.

Sorry, I forgot one important thing.....the $279.00 model comes in black only. The camo model, of which I'm not to fond of the pattern, is around $329.00 I think.

FOD2,

I'd heard they were good guns, but had never seen one. A couple years ago, a friend of my dad's here in Southern IL bought a synthetic stock Charles Daly 12 ga, and he loves it. He hunts everything with it from upland birds, rabbits, and deer. I've shot it before and like the feel of it, but i'm still kinda partial to my Beretta

Is it an auto or a pump? Ported barrel or standard?

My dad has had one for over 25 years and it has
killed a lot of pheasants. But I think you would
be better off with the nova.

Sad to say but the Charles Daly of today is no where near the original Charles Daly. Your memory serves you correctly -- they were at one time ranked up there with the best (Parker and Merkel) -- they also were, I believe, exclusively double guns -- no pumps or Autos.

Not to say they are bad guns now -- don't know -- but they are using a name to market a gun that can't compare to the original (especially at that price tag).

I have a Charles Daly automatic that I won at a Quail Unlimited banquet. I think that it is actually an import that Charles Daly markets. I would rate it as decent. I haven't had any problems with mine, but I know of people who have.
