Default DVD picture capture help

How do you get still frame pictues from a DVD? Is there software available that makes this possible? I have several home movies that have been created for me and I would like to get still shots from them. Thanks for any help.

Most software DVD programs have the ability built-in. Check the manual and/or the manufacturer's website to see if screen captures are possible.

If you have Windows Moviemaker (most Windows XP computers have it) you can load sections or all of your DVD movie into that program. You then preview your movie clip and advance and/or pause it at the exact individual picture frame you want to obtain. Then go up to "Tools" and select "Take Picture from Preview." It will save that single frame to whatever folder and filename you select on your harddrive. You can also choose what format you want the picture to be in when you save it. Good luck!
