Default Chamber inserts?

Anyone using chamber inserts for hunting or target shooting? I am interested in learning more about them, and I would enjoy reading about your experiences/opinions.

Thanks.

Are you talking about the inserts that enable you to shoot a smaller ga. shell in your shotgun? If so,I'd like to hear about them also.

In over unders and side by side shotguns, Briley makes light tubes. A very cheap way to have a multi guage shotgun.

In rifles, I have read a lot about them. But never seen a centerfire unit in person. I have talked to folks who shot them extensively, and they said they worked good enough for practice.

Tube sets have long been a popular way to shoot 4 gauges through one gun.

Chamber inserts, however, are a relatively recent innovation. They look like truncated tube inserts.

The price difference is significant, and that is what piqued my interest. A Briley 3-gauge tube set can be purchased for around $1,200. Briley's 3-gauge chamber insert set is only $600.

Briley tubes are excellent. Do the chamber inserts perform comparably well?

If you're refering to what I think, I have a set.

The inserts are short, maybe 12-14" long. They insert through the breach of my over/under. There are o-rings at fron and the back ends are machined to match your breach bore.

They do not have chokes in them. I've used them in my 12 gauge Perazzi for shooting "little guns" at tournaments. I have .410, 28 and 20 gauge. I was worried the .410 with a 2 1/2" shell might not **** second barrel with my inertia triggers but never had a problem.

They are really simple to use and have ejectors too. I bought them from my brother. They are Brileys. I've shot them a fair amount. You can change chokes in your main barrel (12 gauge) and have some effect on the pattern on the 28 and 20. I didn't see much change in the .410 pattern. They don't change the balance of the gun. I liked them.

Most the big dogs that shot 4 gauges used the full tube sets with chokes for each gauge. Little guns were never that big of a deal to me although I won some stuff.

Did I answer anything for you?
