I didn't go on the Ifish hunt today...but I did hunt on a pond about 4 miles NW of Salem. It was a small triangular diked pond with 5 acres of corn. Eight of us hunted from the 3 blinds until noon...and managed to get three cackler Canada geese, a pintail, a mallard and a widgeon. The weather was very foggy and the flocks of ducks & geese just would not drop down within shooting range...only the odd straggler came in.
Every so often we could hear what sounded like several shotgun machine guns going off somewhere to the east...probably the Ifish group, we figured. They were getting some shooting in...sounded like at 10-12 guns cutting loose 2 or 3 shots each in outbursts lasting 2 or 3 seconds.
This is one of our group with a cackler. The pond was iced over except for where the overnight ducks & geese kept it open...it was a cold, cold place to be...but they liked the corn.
