Cough cure!
Ok, I know this sounds rediculous, but my step daughter has the recent crud going around and she has a bad cough. An inlaw said she had seen on the TV that if you rub Vicks vapor rub on the bottom of your feet that it will help your cough. We were all but she tried it, darn if it didn't work!
We were having her sip some whiskey and that didn't even help! That's always my cure.
Anybody else see this or done this??

Re: Cough cure!
I have had a bad cough for a week and am at this moment rubbing vicks on the bottom of my feet. I will report my scientific findings.

Re: Cough cure!
We'll, did it work, or do you have better smelling feet? Stepdaughter hasn't coughed in over a half hour!

Oh I have no doubts R.A. but I just want to warn those who might have a little too much egg nog this weekend that vicks can ruin an otherwise good party.

Re: Cough cure!
I had a bad cough that lasted off and on for months. Then a friend suggested that my cough was being caused by a "sinus infection." I checked it out and my friend was right. After some anti-biotics the persistent cough was cured for good. The doc said this was quite common around here.

Works for bacterial infections. My Son went through that a couple weeks ago.

Re: Cough cure!
I found your Vick's theory on several website. They all claim it works but don't know why!

Re: Cough cure!
Chicken soup will cure what ails you. The protein in chicken contains cystine, amino acid similar to acetylcysteine, a drug that thins mucus and clears lungs. A bowl of steaming hot chicken soup does the job.
Good Luck;

Re: Cough cure!
My buddy from romania claims if you boil two huge onions with little water and then drink the tea it will help clear your lungs. I tried but i think all it cleared was the room , my wife wouldnt come near me for days untill the stink was gone from my pores. I guess getting a child to drink something like that would be a huge task in its self . He said you have to drink it for a couple days to work. I can only sleep on the couch so many times before i get stiff.

Re: Cough cure!
Finely chop one onion, place it in a pot and cover it with honey. Put the lid on the pot and warm the mixture on low heat for 40 minutes. Take as needed, one spoonful at a time, until the cough feels better.
Good Luck:

Re: Cough cure!
That Vicks is great stuff. I used to put it on my mustache so I wouldn't upchuck while changing my daughters diaper.
Works great.

Re: Cough cure!
A tablespoon of Scotch works for me. My wife keeps the bedroom door closed when we have guests because she is afraid they will think the worst if they see the bottle next to the bed. Oh well.
