Just a thought --- each year we see posts of those that lose gear to theft or accidents, that's why we purchase insurance (which has been posted in the past). As you unwrap all that new gear that's under the tree or rush down to your boating/fishing store with gift cards/credit in hand, remember to update your insurance inventory with those items so in the event of a loss, you have documented what you had, it's vintage and cost. If you have a digital camera or videocam, not a bad idea to shoot some pictures and put away safely. Your agent and insurance adjuster (me) will appreciate it greatly  and so will you when we are able to handle your claim under your contract professionally and to full value of what you paid for rather than dicker about what you had, when you got it and how much it's valued.

If it is really valuable, I would also recommended etching an identification # on it, in the past people have used SS# or Driver's license # but in this day and age, your last name or phone # may be enough, just something that you and the police can use to identify.
Also not a bad time of year to check through your USCG/State of Oregon required safety gear and make sure that the fire extinguishers are good, the flares are ok and dated correctly, the airhorn has air in the cannister or is unopened, batteries for backup VHF and GPS are still good. Might also check on the locks on your motors, safety chain attatching motor to boat, and hitches ... small amount of prevention can pay off well down the line so you may never have to make a claim.
