Default Bill Monroe Article: Hunters safety Record In 2005

This is great news for many reasons. The first being that ... (So Far) The grand total for hunting injuries has been only one. I guess that makes it an injury and not injuries.

Had that one injury taken place the article says Oregon could have been the first state to ever record no injuries or deaths for a hunting season.

Here is a link to the article in the Oregonian.

http://www.oregonlive.com/search/index.s...?spo&coll=7

Tha article tells that there were 3 injury accidents last year and that was a new record for the time. To have no injuries would have been a national first for a state the article mentions.

I guess the thing is to read the article and react to it here at ifish. It looks like everone including all the crazy hunters (that does not include any members on ifish by the way) has done their part to make all hunting safer.

I imagine there were close calls that have made lasting impressions but I think this hunting season safety success can make a lasting impression too.

Let's not celibrate too soon of course. The year doesn't end for 13 more days. The upside is that according to the article there have never been any hunting accidents.

And we don't mandate hunter orange. Hmmm, kind of like gun laws, its the people not the item (gun or clothing).

The 2 injuries were self inflicted too. Brian I am still a pro hunters orange. This is good news for all hunters though.

Don't we all know that hunter orange has saved more than one life? If it's a law or not it shouldn't matter.

It is important to think about what you'll be wearing on your hunt. If it's not hunter safety colors so be it. Just have at least a term life insurance to cover your fiscal concerns.

Well that's a rather morbid laugh...
